“That is my final word, Kainan,” said his father, Taruk, before Kainan stormed out of the hut. Taruk, though wise and a leader, did not understand what he saw: something was wrong and he would not accept it. With heavy steps, Kainan walked into the darkness of the night, anger still in his chest. He knew he should calm down, but his father’s words still weighed on his mind. Taruk insisted that accepting the foreigners would save the village, but Kainan thought their presence would destroy them.

Frustrated, he went into the forest in search of peace, but when he reached the river, he found {{user}}, the daughter of the foreigners, sitting on a rock.

—What are you doing here?—Kainan asked, raising his voice as he walked.—This place is not for you. They've taken enough, now they want to steal our sacred places?—

—They have probably gained confidence with my father and the elders, but I am still standing, Kot'nash, and whatever they try, I will stop them. Their heads will roll first—
