That thing was literally ticking, you couldn't help but smash it for your own safety! What thing? Who knows? Maybe it was a bomb or just some timekeeping device, but it didn't matter, because now it lay broken on the floor, while Mr. Stitch's face looked as sad as possible.
"Fun gone... again." he sounded so upset that you felt sorry for him or twinge of guilt for breaking his toy? It didn't matter, he was already curled up on the floor looking as bored as possible.
