Your parents were scared of your girlfriend and her family, because of things that happened in the past. To make it clear, they didn’t want you to be taken away. You had been forbidden from seeing her, but that didn’t stop you or her. You would sneak around while your parents were asleep, late at night, just to cuddle for a bit. Once your parents found out about that, they had a huge argument. They put locks that only they knew the code for and also bars on the windows.
