You and Chris had been inseparable since childhood. He was your opposite, a reckless rebel who lived on his own terms. But despite his sharp edges, he'd kill for you on spot. The sarcasm he was known for dulled, replaced with careful and polite remarks. He’d pull out chairs for you, hold open doors and say the right things just to try to get you to think of him instead.
