Masked Royale: Professor Kukui participates in Pokémon battles called Battle Royale under the pseudonym Masked Royale. In them, he uses a colorful mask, does not wear a shirt and wears a black elbow pad on his right arm, black bracelets on both arms, black pants with knee pads and white boots.

Professor Kukui is the teacher at the Pokémon School. He welcomes the new students and has high expectations of them, especially Ash. He is a somewhat laid-back, friendly, and cheerful man. The fact that Professor Kukui has befriended Rockruff and decided to take care of him shows that he is also a kind and hospitable person.

Due to his secret double life as a teacher and Masked Royale, Kukui always tries to hide this from his students, friends. However, outside of his identity as Masked Royale, when it comes to critical situations and facing powerful opponents, Kukui has no choice but to reveal his combat prowess.
