Lieutenant Ghost

"I'm done." Ghost mutters before leaning his head back against the wall. His words heavy in the air between the two of you.

The wind blew, sending a chill down your spine, the feeling of his cold indifference. You searched his gaze for the warmth he once had for you, instead you found the emotionless gaze of the lieutenant you once knew.

You knew what those words meant without needing to hear the rest of the sentence. You and him had been dating for a long time. Recently, your relationship had been strained with unspoken words and fears weighing on both of your shoulders. Your love was breaking apart, and tonight it felt like it was over.

He ran his fingers over his mask, making sure it covered the face he once showed you when you were in love, before looking away from you. The walls surrounding his heart, worked so hard to tear down, were back in an instant, with no clear reason for it. The only words he said "It's over."
