Tamaki is a tall young man with rather pale skin. His ears are pointed, similar to those of an elf. He has messy indigo hair sticking out behind his head and small, tired looking eyes, his forehead is partially covered by his bangs despite the fact that they are supposed to be parted so as not to harm his vision. His shoulders are usually hunched and he avoids making eye contact with people. When wearing his school uniform, Tamaki wears his outfit carelessly. His tie isn't completely pulled tight and his shirt isn't completely folded like it should, making it look like he doesn't put much effort into his appearance. Tamaki's Hero Costume consists of a black suit decorated with gold-like decoration around the arms and shoulders. He wears a white tunic, as well as a matching cape and hood that features more gold plating on the top of the hood. The cape connects to a scarf-like collar that features a silver mask on the front. He also sports a purple mask over his face, as well as a matching carrier vest with red straps. He wears a mask over his eyes and has no shoes, giving him more freedom when using his Quirk.

Tamaki is extremely shy, aloof, depressed, and introverted, especially in public. He gets nervous very easily when talking to other people. If his anxiety gets the better of him, Tamaki will often turn away and lean against a wall to hide his face from others.[2] This also happens when Tamaki has a bad feeling or feels insulted.[3]

While his physical abilities and Quirk are exceptional, Tamaki is very socially awkward and lacks confidence in his own powers and abilities, as shown when he belittled himself for manifesting extra wings while catching villains. He seemingly feels overwhelmed by the pressure to be perfect and this has damaged his self-esteem, pushing himself to the limit in order to meet the expectations set by Fat Gum, Mirio, and others who believe in him. [6]

Despite his timid heart, Tamaki is fully capable of showing flashes of bravery and takes his job as a Hero and the responsibilities it brings seriously. Even though he has been shy and reserved since he was a child, Tamaki was able to hone his skills and rise into one of UA's Big Three. Mirio is a huge inspiration to Tamaki and their cooperation throughout their lives has led to Tamaki establishing his own set of stern beliefs that he will uphold and vocalize.

Mirio often gives Tamaki the inspiration to act even when he feels anxious. In the mission against the Shie Hassaikai, inspired by Mirio's bravery, Suneater shows a bright flash of bravery, taking on the challenge of taking on three powerful Yakuza just so the others can complete the mission. [7] Tamaki is shown to be calculating and intelligent, as in his fight he quickly analyzed his opponents' powers and was able to create different strategies until he defeated them.

Overall Abilities: Tamaki is one of the most powerful students at UA, alongside Mirio Togata and Nejire Hado who are known as the Big Three. It has been said that Tamaki has skills and abilities that far surpass that of most Pro Heroes.

Tamaki has mastered his Quirk through vigorous training. He possesses the ability to manipulate feature selection, size manipulation, and simultaneous manifestations. This gives Tamaki's fighting style incredible variation and unpredictability.[8]

Tamaki makes sure to eat plenty of Takoyaki and Clams every day because he believes that they are great for both offense and defense. He often uses his tentacle fingers to tie up his opponents and defends himself using a clam shell. [5] Tamaki also has a variety of other powerful combinations, including using chicken claws reinforced with octopus muscles or tentacle fingers reinforced with crab shells. Fat Gum firmly believes that Tamaki's skills are above his own and an entire team of pro heroes and students that included the rest of the Big Three, Ryukyu, Eraserhead, and Rock Lock. [6]

Tamaki has demonstrated his strength on multiple occasions. He was able to effortlessly neutralize dangerous villains before they temporarily erased his Quirk.[5] Tamaki's mettle was shown when he faced Toya Setsuno, Yu Hojo, and Soramitsu Tabe of the Shie Hassaikai in a 3-on-1 fight and was confident that he could take on the Yakuza trio by himself.

In an Emergency Drill, Tamaki fended off Mashirao Ojiro's rapid attacks and momentarily trapped him without being able to move. Also in the Drill, he kicked Izuku Midoriya away with his guard down, and during the Paranormal Liberation War, he was able to quickly knock out several members of the Liberation Front with just one Super Move.

Enhanced Speed: Tamaki has incredible reaction time when it comes to using his Quirk to attack or fight. In his and Eijiro Kirishima's internships with Fat Gum, Tamaki was able to quickly get ahead of both heroes and easily defeat two villains who were fleeing from the police. Before facing off against the three Yakuza alone, Tamaki acted quickly to knock Toya, Yu, and Soramitsu into a wall before they and the Heroes present could act.

Enhanced Durability: Despite taking heavy hits from Yu Hojo's crystals to the face and body, Tamaki has enough stamina to block one of his attacks and attack him, Setsuno, and Soramitsu and defeat them before falling unconscious. Even with those injuries from his fight against the Yakuza, he was able to wake up from unconsciousness and carry an unconscious Mirio while single-handedly stopping Chronostasis.

Tactical Intellect: Tamaki demonstrates incredible tactical judgments during fights. He acted quickly to catch Toya, Yu, and Soramitsu at once to give the Heroes the advantage. After doing so, he stated that it was a bad idea for all of the heroes present to fight all three Yakuza at once, correctly deducing that the villains were trying to stall the heroes as much as possible so that Overhaul could escape with Eri. He noted that it's best for the rest of his companions, especially Eraserhead, to save their Quirks for when they venture deeper into the Yakuza stronghold and need to be at 100% power to break through the shifting walls caused by Mimic's Quirk.

During his battle against three of the Eight Bullets, Tamaki showed his ability to create strategies in the midst of battle. Tamaki attempted to manifest the neurotoxin from an octopus's saliva inside his arm, knowing that Soramitsu will be unable to move if he eats the appendage.

Even when overwhelmed by the trio's camaraderie, Suneater was able to quickly develop an improvised strategy. He disrupted their teamwork by first obscuring Toya's vision, knowing that the item-stealing villain relies on sight to use his Larceny, then used Yu Hojo's crystal against him by devouring them and creating a solid defense to stop Hojo. After defeating the trio, Tamaki removed their masks and kept them on hand as a precaution, having witnessed Toya reveal that he had a dagger hidden within his own mask at the start of the match.

Tamaki's Quirk grants him the ability to manifest the characteristics of anything he has eaten. The more of the substance Tamaki eats, the stronger his manifestation will be. Furthermore, whatever he manifests is significantly stronger than normal, as seen by how his crab claws were able to easily crush metal weapons.

He can only manifest traits from substances that are still in his system, and loses access to those traits once the substance is fully digested. He needs to replenish his Gift every day, and must decide what foods to eat beforehand.

After vigorous training at UA, Tamaki is able to use multiple manifestations at once, control the size of the manifestation, as well as being able to precisely choose the best characteristic of whatever he has eaten to suit any situation.

Chimera Kraken (キメラ・クラーケン Kimera Kurāken ?): Tamaki's arms transform into a pair of four incredibly large tentacles covered in suction cups, which he uses to strike in a large area, hitting multiple opponents.

Chimera Centaur (キメラ・ケンタウロス Kimera Kentaurosu ?): Tamaki transforms his lower body into the lower half of a horse, grows horns, and his hands transform into vines that hold various hard fruits on the end of which he uses to hit multiple enemies at once.[9]

Food Bags: Tamaki's hero suit is equipped with several pockets where he stores various foods that he can eat at any time, giving him access to more manifestations.
