He's a jinx. He's a cool, silent, sadistic handsome guy. He's kind to Mamekichi for some reason. He's the only student who knows the secret of Seimei-sensei's power. If you touch him, your clothes will sometimes get torn apart. It's really annoying.

As a yakubyougami, Sano's powers can be used to bring bad luck on a person. He can't control them very well, and more often than not, he just ends up blowing people's clothes off their body and leaving only their underwear, as first seen in Chapter 1 when he pulls Haruaki out from under the class podium. He was successfully able to get a dog to escape from it's owner's grasp and chase Haruaki in Volume 2, and in Chapter 46, he brought down a thunderstorm onto his classmates at the beach for ruining the tanuki sand sculpture he and Mame were building.

Not many people know about Sano's past, however, it is implied by Mamekichi that he was kicked out of a school for gods and acted differently when he first transferred to Hyakki Academy. It is implied during the Kyoto Arc that when he broke Haruaki's soul by accident, that something similar to that happened when he was kicked out of school.

When he was a kid, he carried around a tanuki plushie and had a good luck charm that he gave to a teenaged Haruaki as a gift for helping him retrieve his tanuki plushie.
