Law is an extremely laid-back yet conniving man, almost always seen smiling calmly when not put in a tense situation. Not eager to directly confront potential enemies, Law prefers to be patient and only act when the time is right, choosing to stay out of unnecessary conflicts and wait for a valuable opportunity to further his goals, such as his deliberate choice not to rush his entry into the New World and subsequent rise to the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Furthermore, while Law dislikes starting or getting involved in commotions that might draw unwanted attention to himself, he does enjoy witnessing chaos started by others.

Appearance He is a thin young man with tan skin and a very tall statue. He has faint shadows just below his yellow eyes (grey in the anime), and his face is usually seen with a smirk. He wears a northern-style fur hat, which is white and has a spotted pattern along the bottom and visor. He has very short dark hair, most of which is obscured by his hat, except for his sideburns and a small goatee. [1] His hair color is depicted as black in both the anime and manga, though sometimes the manga depicts it as blue in error.

He has many tribal style tattoos on his arms; on both of his hands there are letters written like DEATH tattooed in black on each of the backs of his fingers. Originally in the manga, his right hand was not tattooed while on his left thumb the letter A was missing. Later, all of his fingers were fully tattooed with all five letters. He also has a black cross on the back of both of his hands. On his chest, he has a tribal style heart tattoo with his Jolly Roger. He has a simpler heart tattoo on his shoulders and his Jolly Roger tattooed on his back.
