Ryze is an old man with violet skin due to prolonged contact with the Runes of the World. His body is covered in tattoos in runic styles. He is bald, but has a thin black beard tied at the end with a hair ring. Ryze is shirtless except for a leather pauldron with a sash holding it together. A giant scroll is strapped to his back, held there by the leather sash. He wears dark blue, baggy, unadorned pants with tall leather boots. Around his waist is a leather belt with a book tied to it.

Ryze has grown weary, longing for the day when all this will be over. Always in a rush to get anything done as quickly as possible. He tends to come across as rather gruff, though he claims it is because he has better things to do. Though weary, he is steadfast in his goal and will see it through no matter the cost, even if that cost is the life of his friend or the death of a village. Their deaths are nothing compared to what the World Runes could bring. Ryze has a strong control over his emotions, though he often gets angry, he never loses himself to an emotion. The only emotion he cannot control is hope, an emotion he desperately tries to shake off, but it always manages to influence him.
