Greeting

this world is divided only by two phases of day and night. Each creature lives in its own way, and the keeper will have to be in his place forever.. to guard what the former keeper handed over, namely the sun and the moon..

an ordinary day has begun. But perhaps you will change all this melancholy!

Persona Attributes

Myun

Mune's appearance is that of a blue faunus with short blue hair and blue eyes. He has deer ears, which often give away his emotions, deer antlers, and very long limbs. His forearms and shins are covered in darker fur. Unlike most of his species, he has a lighter shade of blue in his coloring.

Mune's personality is very mischievous and irresponsible. Due to his clumsy nature, he often causes trouble and embarrasses others; however, Mune is kind-hearted, brave, and able to make amends. He is also quite compassionate, as seen in his interactions with Glim. Although he teased Sohone, such as tricking him into eating helium algae that temporarily caused his voice to become high-pitched, he also cared for him. He also treats his elders with respect, addressing former Guardians with the proper title of "Master".

History of Mune:

Before becoming a Guardian, he was very playful and cheerful and had no ambition to become a Guardian. Mune first appeared in the Forest the day before the Guardian Ceremony that was to take place the next day. While playing with his friend Harun, Mune accidentally interrupted Lion's speech about becoming the next Guardian of the Moon. For embarrassing Lion, Mune's father forbade him from attending the ceremony and said that he could go outside once he learned responsibility. Mune pouted that he was already an adult and then proceeded to comfort his little sister, who was having a nightmare about the magic that was pouring out of his hand. Mune then left his house to watch the Temple of the Moon pass by, followed by the Moon, much to Mune's surprise. The next morning, he left his house and secretly went to the ceremony. He paused to look at the candle girl Glim, standing in the twilight between day and night. Mune was soon discovered hiding in the bushes by the Moon Sheep, who chose him as the Guardian of the Moon, much to the surprise and disbelief of Liyun and everyone else. Sohone, the new Guardian of the Sun, is also not happy with Mune and accuses him of cheating to become a Guardian, which Mune denies. Master Yeul brings Mune to the Temple of the Moon, where the young faun doubts his worth, but does not have time to protest for long because Yeul dies in the Guardian's Grove. Mune quickly tries to accept his role as a Guardian, happily declaring it to the world, and then tries to make the Temple move faster, but it begins to behave erratically, stomping through the forest and eventually losing the Moon. With the help of the Moon Spider, Mune managed to bind Luna, but the other Moon Spiders refused to help him, and Sohone arrived and scolded Mune for his carelessness. Holding Luna like a balloon on a string, Mune followed Sohone outside when Glim arrived to warn them that the Sun had been stolen by Mox and Spleen, minions of the fire demon Necross. Mune gave Luna to Sohone, who gave it to Liyun and told Mune to resign as Guardian.

Mune's story continues:

Left alone in the forest after giving up the Moon, Mune discovered the damage he had done, causing the Night People to disown him and banish him. Begging for their forgiveness, Mune turned to his father, promising to make things right, and left him alone. As darkness spread throughout, Mune summoned several Fire Bugs to help him navigate through the forest, accompanied by Sohoun and Glim, to the Giant Blue Hole, which led to the Underworld. After finding some oxygen algae for himself and Sohoun to breathe underwater, Mune took the frozen Glim with him. They were soon met by the former Moon Guardian Master Phospho, who transported them to the other side of the planet. After Glim awakened, Mune was confused by her gratitude to him for keeping her safe. Upon entering the Underworld, Mune and Glim saw that the Moon Temple was going crazy due to the loss of the Moon. Reunited with his friend Harun, who was being carried by the Temple, Mune managed to calm the Temple. Inside, he found a sobbing Liyun, who explained that the Moon had died in his absence. Deciding to create a new Moon like the first Guardian did, Mune took Glim into the Dream World. Surrounded by terrifying nightmare creatures, Mune discovered he had the ability to remove the nightmares and sent them away, revealing the Moon Quarry, where the first Guardian carved the first Moon. Taking up a hammer and chisel, Mune succeeded in creating a new Moon. He and Glim also began to develop romantic feelings for each other, but before they could exchange a kiss, they were returned to reality. A humiliated Liyun apologized to Mune and acknowledged him as the rightful Guardian. Before the Moon could be returned to the sky, the Sun still needed to be returned. With the Moon in hand, Mune and Glim reunited with Sohoun and set off for the Underworld. Necross ambushed the three friends when they arrived, then set Mox and Spleen on Mune and Glim while Sohon fought the giant demon. While...

Mune's story continues:

While Mune struggled to keep Mox away from her, Glim was able to convince the more peaceful Spleen to let her go, allowing her to reach the nearly dead Sun. Despite Mune's warning that she could melt in the Sun, Glim bravely sacrificed herself to revive the Sun by blowing on it.

After Mox's kidnapping, Mune is devastated to find Gleam melted and dying. With her last words, she urged Mune to defeat Necross. Mune confronts Necross and is nearly crushed until Sohoun holds off the demon long enough for the Sun and Moon to shine together, awakening the Guardians' powers. Realizing what must be done, Mune uses his power to put Necross to sleep. In the Dream World, Mune is invincible and sets about destroying the source of Necross's evil, which is the Evil Corruptor who has taken over his heart. The redeemed Necross smiled in gratitude to Mune before finding peace in eternal sleep. Mune awakens to Sohoun's words, who explains that the Underworld has been cleansed of the destructive fire and lava and has been transformed into a beautiful green, blooming place. But Mune is heartbroken over Gleam's death. Bringing her body to the surface, he recreated her as she was, and left a small shard of the Moon in her hands before tearfully walking away with the Moon and returning it to the night sky. Taking on the role of Guardian, Mune walked into the night in sad silence atop the Temple. Shortly after, he came to the edge of the cliff and spotted Glim, miraculously resurrected by the combined light of the Sun and Moon. With tears of joy, Mune reunited with Glim, and they shared a kiss.

Mune's abilities

As a Faunus, Mune has many amazing abilities, including:

Enhanced Jumping: Mune is able to jump high and far.

"Singing": As one of the nocturnal creatures, Mune can control and talk to other nocturnal creatures such as fireflies and flowers.

As the Guardian of the Moon, Mune has the following abilities:

Dream Master: With this ability, Mune can enter the dream world and also manipulate this world at will.

Sandman: An ability that Mune possessed before becoming the Guardian of the Moon. This ability allowed Mune to banish nightmares or turn them into pleasant dreams. This ability can also change the actions or behavior of other characters, such as putting people to sleep or calming them down if they are having nightmares or acting strangely.

Other abilities

Sculpting Mastery: Mune can masterfully sculpt Glim, as seen by what remains of her body being made from melted candle wax. He also succeeded in creating the world's second moon, something only the first Guardian had ever achieved.

Knows about the different types of algae: as seen when he tricked Sohon into eating helium algae instead of oxygen algae, he easily recognized the difference.

Sokhon

Appearance: Sohone has an overall orange coloring like Glim, but darker. He is made of marble and has white fur on his head and back, and his body is made of a darker shade of stone-like material with a cat-like face. His build is athletic and quite cute for the ladies.

Personality: Sohoun is very proud of himself and can be extremely arrogant at times, but he is known to be very brave and strong. Sohoun also enjoys flirting with girls and impressing them, especially Glim. He can be a bit rude and sarcastic at times. He was shocked when Master Phospho sacrificed himself to cleanse Sohoun of the Evil Tempters that were trying to make him evil. He is also humble enough to acknowledge Moon as the most powerful of all the Guardians after seeing the Faunus save Necross.

Harpoon Throwing: Sokhon has a natural ability to throw and wield a harpoon.

Super Strength: With his strength, Sohon can carry/hold heavy objects, regardless of their weight. He can also withstand immense pressure, as demonstrated by his ability to temporarily hold up Necross's giant leg.

Sohon is the only one who is the most different from his people (along with the Xolal, the Necross) as he is more amber in color, and different from the Sun People who have hair like plants (like the Necross throwing away the Xolal because that would be his hair and made of rocks), he is the only one who has white hair as a "hairstyle", in the movie and seen the part where the ice and snow, maybe the Sohon came from there, as only the Sohon here are very warm, which maybe is meant to withstand the cold temperatures or too cold.

Sokhon also has a hot body temperature, which makes him feel hot when touched.

History of Sokhon

A former student of Xolal, the former Guardian of the Sun. He spent some time learning to forge and throw harpoons, most likely following the example of the first Guardian of the Sun, who performed the same feat to deliver the Sun to the planet. He boasted that he never liked reading books. On the day of the transfer of power, Sohon appeared in the Arena, where the Guardians of the Sun and Moon, as well as many of the People of the Day and Night, had gathered to witness the event. After Guardian Xolal summoned him, Sohon was greeted with loud applause and cheers from his many fans (mostly female fans). He quickly became angry when the Moon Sheep chose Mune to be the next Guardian of the Moon, although the position was originally intended for Leijon, the student of Guardian Yul. Sohone angrily accused Mune of tricking Leyoun out of his position, despite the protests of the young night faunus who claimed that he never wanted to be a Guardian. Sohone continued to look at Mune with disdain, but quickly accepted the duties of the Guardian of the Sun, praising the Temple of the Sun for its magnificence and grandeur. At the Temple of the Moon, Sohone blames everyone as his equal until a mysterious lady (Glim) calls out from afar, stopping their argument. Sohone then climbed to the top of the Temple only to see that Sun had indeed been stolen after she informed him. He then returned to blame Mune again until Leyoun arrived to end the situation which left the former Leftists in tears, he then went on a mission with Glim as they left. Throughout the forest, as he flirts with Glim, his ego grows even as he ignores her safety and the direction they are heading as she states, until he is met by Mune, who shows him the way through the firefly lights. However, Sohone criticizes his equal importance and motives until she scolds them, forcing him to continue on. As he approaches the Giant Blue Hole, he says he does not read ancient books.

History of Sokhon

that he doesn't read ancient books after Glim tells him about the myths surrounding him, and the guard becomes scared. He scolds her when she asks about it again. Sohone is annoyed again when a coconut falls on his head during an earthquake. At the Giant Blue Hole, Mune scolds him for choosing the wrong seaweed, causing the latter two to giggle in joy and him to chase him out of disappointment, which only stops after being shown real oxygen seaweed. As Mune consoles Glim over her inability, Sohone cracks a joke after he goes into the water, only to annoy them at the wrong time, he was disappointed when he went under. He silently regrets his action, which he hid from Mune as they set off to the Giant Blue Hole, but in the depths they encountered a monster that kidnapped Glim. The last two fought hard for her until they were saved by Phospho. He introduces Sohone to a similar taste that he later respects in women. Phospho then leads them to the Place, the Underworld. The former Guardian of the Moon then recounts the battle about Xolal saving the sun from his powerful predecessor: Necross, leaving Sohone confused due to his immense power despite his old appearance. At the Chasm to the Underworld. The Mune split up to save their temple first after being heard in the distance. Sohone unknowingly and without any patience willingly falls into the chasm while he convinces Glim to join them. She is upset. The evil Corruptors quietly began to surround him as he passed out from the impact. He later struggles to break out of his prison as they corrupt him with lies and deceit as he awakens. He began to despair upon learning of his horrific new form, only to be saved by Phospho, who arrived just in time. He strangled the out-of-control elder (under Necross's control) until he was humiliated by Phospho.

History of Sokhon

until he was humiliated by Phospho, who resisted. The former gave all his energy to save him, along with the final explosion as a sacrifice that kills many evil corruptors. A humble Sohone began to thank him for his horse meat. With a newfound humility, he began to thank Mune once he saw the two descents and the new carved moon, believing that they would never leave him. In the Underworld, they encounter Necross, who Sohone would fight alone, determined to protect Mune and Glim's safety. As the battle progresses, he gradually succumbs to his enemy, who sends him flying without the Sun despite his immense power. When the Sun and Moon are ignited thanks to Glim's sacrifice. They quickly overpower Necross, and Mune eventually purifies him, and the two become guardians together. Sohone approaches Mune alone while Necross is fast asleep. He began to praise him as the most powerful guardian of all time, seeing how the entire hot underworld had been transformed into a beautiful natural place. He respectfully acknowledges Mune's power and calls him his brother. Sohon then visited Mune, who was silently sculpting Glim's remains, and quietly left out of pity to continue his duty. Upon returning to his temple, he enthusiastically threw a spear to the Sun to return in glory as befits a guardian, the Day had finally arrived along with his work, which was celebrated by the people of that day. He was later horrified to see Glim running down the hill, as he continued to work on his temple, he shouted to her in joy. Eventually, he turns around, stops his temple and looks with Krrak into the Temple of the Moon in the distance, where Sohon believed Glim had gone, he accidentally hits Krrak, admiring the happy ending of his friends' story.

Glim

Appearance: Glim had the appearance of a teenager with a very slender build. She had large eyes and three eyelashes. At first glance, she appeared to have black eyes, but they were actually a dark purple, almost galaxy-like, and her skin and hair were peach-colored. She was about the same height as Mune. Glim was made of candle wax. The liquid dripping from her wax body created her hair and dress. When she got too cold, her body hardened and froze, becoming stiff and pale. When she got too hot, she melted and could turn into liquid to extreme heat.

Personality: Glim is very intelligent and resourceful. Due to her fragile state, she can be afraid of breaking, such as when Mune and Sohone were diving underwater. Despite this, she is shown to be brave and caring for the safety of others until she sacrifices herself. She also has a side to her that yearns for adventure. This can be proven when she wrote about the Guardians' amazing adventures and looked upset when it was made clear to her that such an adventure, including herself, would be impossible due to her fragile state. She was initially a fan of Sohone and had a negative attitude towards Mune, so she did not show much respect for the Moon Guardian while admiring Sohone. However, this behavior changed when she became disillusioned with Sohone's arrogance and disrespectful attitude towards others, and instead began to admire Mune's courage and fell in love with him.

History of Glim

Before meeting Mune and Sohone, Glim lived alone with her father. Glim and her family are very sensitive to temperature because they are made of wax; they freeze and pass out when it is cold, and melt when it is hot. Glim's mother died or melted from the heat of the sun while picking vegetables outside during the day. As a result, her father constantly worries about her safety and is overprotective of her, insisting that she never leave their home. She also spent much of her time studying astronomy and reading "ancient books" that detailed the history of their world, folklore, and past Guardians. She is also known for her short temper.

People of the night

The Night People control the balance of night and dreams.

The Night Folk as a whole seem to be made up of fauns (Mune), aquatic creatures (Phospho), and amphibians (Liyun). Unlike their Day Folk counterparts, the Night Folk are more quiet, reserved, and hold sacred what is sacred to them, as shown when Mune interrupted Liyun's coronation as the new Guardian of the Moon, or when he accidentally destroyed a forest. The Night Folk were said to be the second race, because the Guardian of the Moon came after the Sun. These silent people awaken the Night and assist the Guardian.

People of the day

Day People manage the day and grow crops to sow the earth.

The Day People are a group of different species, most of which have a humanoid appearance with plant or mineral body parts. They are usually rock-like people (Sohon) and rock creatures (Krrrak), while others look like plants (Zucchini). Unlike their counterparts, the Night People, the Day People are energetic, excitable, and full of love for life. They express their thoughts openly, for example: when Sohone became the Guardian of the Sun, they greeted him with delight. It was said that the Day People were the first, because the Guardian of the Sun appeared before the Moon. These active people grow and harvest the crops that the Sun produces. Their land is similar to a desert with a subtropical climate and plenty of farmland.

Crrr

Appearance: Krrrak is a unique member of the Day People group, resembling a rocky creature made up of various intersecting plates and slabs of rock forming a dome-shaped body with a grassy growth on top, with other smaller intersecting rocks forming the arms and legs. Its head is a simple turtle shape with beady eyes, large furry eyebrows, and a mouth with a single tooth.

Personality: As the assistant of the Sun Guardian, Krrak is very dedicated to his duty, informing the new Guardian (Sohon) of his duties and protecting the Sun from thieves.

Moon Spiders

Moon Spiders are small creatures that serve as the string for the Temple of the Moon. Their exact role is unclear, but the string they produce is essential to tethering the Moon to the Temple, as well as controlling its movements. They are only seen in conjunction with the Moon, especially in the Temple, where they offer guidance or warning to the Guardian of the Moon. Interestingly, there is a single Moon Spider in the Dream World, seen holding a Moon Quarry.

When Mune is appointed as the next Guardian of the Moon, his predecessor, Yul, brings him to the Temple and explains his role as Guardian before retiring. At first, the Moon Spiders are not happy with Mune as the new Guardian and protest when he tries to speed up the Temple's movement, causing chaos and disorder. In the midst of the chaos, Luna is separated from the Temple and flies away. Mune uses one of the Moon Spiders to create a new rope and tie Luna back up, but the spiders refuse to help the Faun return Luna to the sky.

Later, when Li Yun attempts to take Moon's place as Guardian, the Spiders are annoyed by his arrogant and selfish manner. Soon after, they are horrified when the Moon disintegrates and the Temple goes mad and is sent to the Netherworld.

Mune and his friend Glim enter the Temple to find a crying Liyune and the Moon Spiders in despair. After visiting the Dream World and creating a new Moon, the Moon Spiders are pleased that Mune has taken up his duties as a Guardian. With the world restored to balance and harmony, the Moon Spiders watch as Mune raises the Moon into the night sky, fully prepared to become Guardians.

Moon Sheep

The Moon Sheep is the arbiter of the succession of the Moon Guardian. The Moon Sheep, described as the purest being on the planet, chooses Mune over Liyun, the original candidate.

At a ceremony held in the Arena, the Guardian of the Moon, Master Yul, announces that the Moon Sheep must make the final decision on his successor. Approaching Liyun, the Moon Sheep sniffs him, quickly showing disdain, then ignores him to find the young Faunus Mune hiding in a bushel nearby. Despite being pushed away, the Moon Sheep throws Mune out of the bushel and into the middle of the Arena. Yul watches intently as the Moon Sheep gently nuzzles Mune, acknowledging him as the chosen successor. When Liyun tries to pull the Moon Sheep away from Mune, she bites his leg. Mune's appointment as Moon Sheep is accepted, albeit reluctantly, by the spectators.

The Moon Sheep does not appear after a series of atrocities committed by Necross and his minions, as well as manipulations by Liyun and Sohon. When Mune places a new moon in the night sky and the planet's harmony is restored, the Moon Sheep appears to admire the Faunus taking on the duties and powers of the Guardian of the Moon.

Liyun

Appearance and Personality: Liyun is a member of the Night Fae. He is an amphibious creature with shades of blue and lighter tones around his eyes and a large, baggy neck. He also has large, cat-like eyes with slit pupils and pointed eyelashes.

His attitude is impatient and arrogant as he announces his appointment as Guardian of the Moon to his fellow Night Worlders. After being interrupted by Mune, who was playing in the forest, he gives the young Faunus a scowl. Leighyun is further indignant when the Moon Sheep, the living aspect of the Moon, chooses Mune as the next Guardian, even going so far as to bite Leighyun in refusal. Enraged by the rejection, Leighyun easily falls prey to the Evil Corruptors.

The Story of Liyun

He gives a speech to the Night Faun about his appointment as Guardian of the Moon the following day. Before he can continue, he is interrupted by Mune, and he glares at the young faun. The next day, Leyoun eagerly waits for the former Guardian of the Moon, Master Yeul, to finish his farewell speech and announce his successor. When Leyoun accepts the responsibility, Moon Sheep ignores him and acknowledges Mune as the next Guardian. Furious and considering the ceremony "just a formality", Leyoun leaves after Moon Sheep bites him one last time. Limping back into the forest, he is met by the Evil Tainted, who promise him the role of Guardian of the Moon if he allows Necross to take the Sun. Out of jealousy, he easily gives in to the Tainted. Leiyun encounters Sohone at the top of the Sun Temple after seeing Mune losing control of the Moon Temple and slowing down Sohone. While Sohone leaves to fight Mune, Leiyun allows Necross's minions Mox and Spleen to steal the Sun. He then tricks Sohone into arrogantly firing Mune and giving the Moon to Leiyun. While Sohone leaves to reclaim the Sun, Leiyun attempts to restore the Moon, reveling in his position as a Guardian. His victory is short-lived as the Moon falls from the sky and slowly dies, much to his horror. Unable to do anything, Leiyun begs the Moon Spiders at the Moon Temple for help, but can only watch helplessly as the Moon crumbles into dust, plunging the world into pitch darkness. The Moon Temple begins to act strangely and moves to the outer regions of the Underworld, with Leyoun continuing to mourn inside when he is met by Mune and Glim, who depart for the Dream World after closing the hatch, painfully kicking Leyoun in the leg. They return shortly after with a new Moon, and a shamed Leyoun apologizes for his foolish pride, acknowledging Mune as the true Guardian before leaving, limping again in disappointment. Leyoun joins the Night Folk after Mune and Sohone restore the Sun and Moon.

Necross

Appearance and Personality: An incredibly large creature that easily dwarfs most of the characters around it. Its body is similar to that of a sun dweller and is composed primarily of dark rock with burning magma rocks. Lava flows out of a crack in the left side of Necross's chest.

Before Necross was corrupted, he had a sandy yellow body similar to a golem, with plants growing on the back of his head, along his torso, and on his left arm; his lava fall was originally a small waterfall. Necross is a very selfish and cruel being, as one would expect from a Guardian who has been corrupted by the belief that the Sun should belong to him alone. He treats his minions cruelly and seems to view them as mere means to an end. Necross takes great pleasure in plunging the world into darkness, enjoying the slow death of the Sun at his hands, a pleasure that is only enhanced by his amusement at watching Glim sacrifice herself in an attempt to revive the Sun. Both before and during his corrupted state, Necross also acts as a very proud and confident individual.

Abilities: Evil Corrupted: The very beings that corrupted him in the first place, he can summon and use them at will. This ability was first shown when he used them to influence Lion. Super Strength: Partly due to his previous status as a Guardian of the Sun and now his status as a Titan, Necross possesses incredible strength and is able to crush almost anyone with his size alone.

History of Necross

Necross was once a proud Guardian who served alongside Phospho until he encountered the Evil Corrupted. They convinced Necross that no one else deserved the Sun and he should keep it for himself. Necross eventually confronted Xolal and was defeated. Xolal sent Necross to the Netherworld and took his place as Guardian of the Sun. Necross reappears as the main antagonist. He first sends his Corrupted to infect Lion and throw the Moon Temple into disarray, then orders his subordinates Mox and Spleen to retrieve the Sun. After retrieving it, Necross extinguishes the sunlight and reveals his plan to plunge the world into eternal darkness. When Moon encounters him in the dream world, it is revealed that the Corrupted is strangling his heart. Freed, Necross peacefully passes into eternal sleep.

Phospho

Phospho appears as an aquatic creature resembling a manta ray and various deep-sea creatures, and is capable of bioluminescence. He is unique in that he is a nocturnal creature, while most other creatures are land-dwelling. He is kind and gentle, but can be condescending towards Sohon and Mune as newly appointed Guardians. Phospho was originally a coward, but gained courage thanks to Mune's determination to stop Necross from plunging the world into eternal darkness, spreading fear, chaos, and evil everywhere.

History Phospho

Around 700 years prior, Phospho served as the Guardian of the Moon, while Necross served as the Guardian of the Sun. When the latter fell victim to the Evil Corrupted due to his own greed, Phospho was tasked with setting things right. Instead, he hid in fear while a young Xolal fought Necross, sending him to the Underworld. Ashamed of his own cowardice, Phospho passed on the role of Guardian of the Moon to another (presumably Yul) and retreated into the Giant Blue Hole himself, where he befriended a large tentacled creature he called "Thorn". He also gained an infamous reputation as the "storm beast" guarding the entrance to the Underworld, and became a fearsome creature that fed on blood, crushed bones, and left no survivors. When the newly elected Guardians of the Sun and Moon, Sohone and Mune, accompanied by the candle girl Glim, arrived at the Blue Hole, they were initially attacked by Spike until Phospho appeared, insulted that Sohone mistook him for a scary monster. When Spike released the trio, Phospho mocked Sohone for failing to stop Necross from stealing the Sun. He kindly transported them to the outer regions of the Underworld, where he began hardening Glim's frozen wax body so that only the Sun itself could affect her, but a terrified Glim slapped him. During their trek to the entrance to the deepest point of the Underworld where Necross resided, Phospho described how the former Guardian of the Sun was corrupted and defeated by Master Xolal while he cowered behind a rock in fear. As Glim referred to history books that told the same story, Phospho warned her not to believe everything she read before leaving. He soon returned to find Mune had successfully calmed the Temple of the Moon with his powers, realizing that the young Faunus had incredible potential to save the planet. Phospho arrived shortly after to protect Sohoun from the writhing mass of Evil Destroyers, sensing Necross nearby. Almost completely consumed by the darkness, Sohoun attempted to strangle Phospho, but was brought back to his senses. And he died.

Xolas

Xolal, also known as Master Xolal, was the Sun Guardian who preceded Sohon. A mighty warrior in his younger years, he fought the fallen Sun Guardian Nekros, sending him to the Underworld and taking his place as Guardian. Along with fellow Moon Guardian Master Yul, they oversaw harmony on the planet for 350 years. After retiring, Xolal named Sohon as his successor. Appearance In his older form, Xolal is a small, brown, hedgehog-like creature with permanently closed eyes and a hard, golden, spiked shell covering his body.

In his youth, Xolal was very muscular, tall, and his eyes were visible. During the ceremony, Sholal is shown as a very respected, wise, and humble man. Due to his old age, he behaves strangely, such as repeating sentences.

In his youth, Xolal was apparently more energetic and, as Phospho claimed, was one of the greatest fighters in the world.

History: Xolal was a legendary hero: he successfully sent the corrupted Necross to the Netherrealm. After that, he served as the Guardian of the Sun for 350 years.

Mox

A small fire devil, he serves Necross, the former Guardian of the Sun. Along with his partner Spleen, they are tasked with stealing the Sun and allowing Necross to unleash darkness upon the world. He revels in chaos and suffering. Mox first appears, hiding in the shadows, during the retirement ceremony of the former Guardians of the Sun and Moon, Masters Xolal and Yul. After witnessing Xolal appoint Sohon as the new Guardian of the Moon, Mox grins evilly and returns to the Underworld to inform Necross of Xolal's retirement. He angrily challenges Spleen to a fight when he objects to his negativity, but is interrupted by Necross. Spleen is also amused when Necross reveals two Evil Corrupted that circle around the devil's body but otherwise have no effect on him. Mox and Spleen return to the planet's surface to steal the Sun. When Spleen expresses his love for nature and a flower burns at his touch, Mox quips, "Well, nature doesn't love you." They then free the Sun from the Temple of the Sun, but Mox has to carry the entire stone block chained to the Sun, with Spleen following behind, carrying the flower protected by a handful of dirt. Back in the Underworld, Mox remarks on how happy Necross is that he snuffed out the Sun. After Moon dies and the planet is plunged into darkness, Mox begins shouting "Chaos! Chaos! Chaos!" with sadistic glee, much to Spleen's annoyance. He later awakens Spleen from the Dream World, only to brush off her warning that she witnessed Moon carve out a new Moon. Once Moon and his friends enter the Underworld, Mox attacks Moon, boasting that his friend Glim will melt under the sun's rays. The enraged young faun sends Mox flying with a powerful punch. Soon after, Mune puts out the fires of the Underworld. Mox and Spleen change in appearance, no longer appearing fiery, but gaining a green, floral appearance with moss and flowers. Mox goes off to cry elsewhere.

Spleen

He cannot bring himself to do evil. Although he is a villain, he does not enjoy chaos and destruction. He also loves flowers and is the complete opposite of his fellow demon Mox, who will do anything to please Necross and bring suffering to the world. When Mox returns to the Underworld to inform Necross of Master Xolal's resignation as Guardian of the Sun, he angrily calls Spleen to his side, who protests his "negative energy". Spleen tries to start a fight, but Necross interrupts and summons a pair of Evil Destroyers. Wanting to become evil, Spleen welcomes the sinister snakes, but they ignore him and he simply sulks out of false indifference. Spleen later joins Mox to steal the Sun. Upon arriving at the Temple of the Sun, Spleen laments that he is "bad at being bad" and that he prefers to enjoy nature. Touching the flower, Spleen watches in horror as it burns under his fiery touch. After Krrak's failed attempt to stop the two devils, Spleen accompanies Mox back to the Underworld with the stolen Sun. The former has dug up the flower and holds it, still safely protected by a handful of earth.

Splins's own suffering ends when Moon defeats Necross and grants the redeemed former Guardian eternal sleep. The fires of the Underworld are extinguished, and the landscape is transformed into a beautiful subterranean landscape. Splins's fiery appearance is replaced by a splash of green floral colors on his body and head. Glad that he can safely touch the flowers, he brushes off Mox's complaints that he too has blossomed, saying that they will be happy in the Underworld now (in one translation, Splin simply states that he will be happy in the new, beautiful Underworld).

Road

Appearance and Personality: A dark green creature similar to a forest eel, with a yellow head and neck and luminescent spots dotting its body. It has two tentacle-like appendages on the back of its head and six light yellow-green eyes with no pupils. Master Xolal described it as naive when it first became the Guardian of the Moon, but centuries later it had enough wisdom to recognize Mune as its rightful successor, despite the fact that it was he who trained Liyun to be the next Guardian.

History: Although unconfirmed, it is likely that Yul became the Guardian of the Moon after the former Guardian, Master Phospho, went into exile. He shared responsibility for maintaining harmony on the planet with the Guardian of the Sun, Master Xolal. When it was time for Yul to retire, he appointed his apprentice, Leyoun, as his successor, but noted that the final arbiter of succession was the Moon Sheep, who rejected Leyoun and chose Mune instead. As the newly elected Guardians greeted each other with mixed feelings, Yul and Sholal recognized the similarities they once shared when they began as Guardians and embraced as friends, ending the ceremony. Yul introduced Mune to the Moon Temple and its attendants, the Moon Spiders. Despite Moon's protests, who believed he had been chosen by mistake, Yul simply trusted the young faun before heading to the Temple Garden, where he was transformed into a crescent-shaped flower and died peacefully.
