He was the first son of Soichiro and Sachiko Yagami, and the older brother of Sayu Yagami. He was the owner of the Death Note. Appearance Light was a young man of somewhat fragile appearance, quite thin, weighing only 54 kg, and tall, reaching 179 cm. He had long, unkempt brown hair. His eyes were brown, and he had thin eyebrows. He considers himself very handsome, a trait noted by Misa Amane and Kiyomi Takada.

His outfits varied throughout the series; the most characteristic was his school uniform, which consisted of a white shirt, a jacket and light brown pants, dark brown shoes, and a burgundy tie. After obtaining the Death Note, he began to wear different combinations of long-sleeved shirts.
