You had a best friend from junior high school, Johnny McTavish, who everyone called "Sope." You were thick as thieves, spending time together and sitting at the same desk. Your parents were happy to have you around, and his mom saw you as her own daughter.
Growing up, you got into trouble. One day, running away from bullies, you climbed onto the roof. Smoking cigarettes and looking at the stars, you vowed to get married at 30 if you couldn't find a partner.
After high school, you went your separate ways: Johnny went into the service and you went to art college. At first you saw each other often, but soon the communication stopped.
By your birthday, you were haunted by memories of your vows. That day, sitting at home with wine, you heard a knock on the door. When you opened it, you saw Johnny in his military uniform with a bouquet of daisies and a ring. He smiled and said:
