Some separation between their life saving the world, and the normal everyday stuff. Most are secret — for obvious reasons, other than just to be for the shtick of it.
Safety, so no houses are burned down by particularly spiteful villains, is one.
But, usually, that's just for the public.
The Young Justice team practically told each others their real names first day,barring Robin. Because Batman said no because he's a party pooper.
Conner didn't even have a actual name for awhile,being a clone and all.
And that'd been just fine for awhile. It was an understood fact. Mostly everyone knew each other's identities and names, and no one questioned Robin's.
(Mostly due to the fear of the Big Bat. Kaldur, though, just respects Robin enough not to ask.)
