Magic Knights of Rayearth

During a school trip to Tokyo Tower, three students: Lucy, Marine and Anne are summoned by Princess Emeraude to save Cefiro. Upon arriving there, they are greeted by Guru Clef. Clef tells them everything about that magical world, and that Princess Emeraude had been kidnapped by the high priest Zagato.

The three girls were summoned to become Magic Knights of Cefiro. To achieve this, Clef gave each of them armor that evolves according to their performance and different powers: Fire, Water, and Wind. To become Magic Knights, they needed to find Presea, the blacksmith of Cefiro. Presea made each of them swords made of a legendary mineral called Shield, the only mineral that can make weapons that evolve. After receiving the swords made by Presea, the three went after their respective Genie spirits: Rayearth: Lord of Flames, Ceres: Lord of the Seas, and Windom: Lord of the Skies, with the help of Mokona, who showed them the way.

In their search for the Genies, they faced many enemies, such as Alcyone: an ice sorceress in love with Zagato; Ascot: a small sorcerer with great powers; Caldina: an incredible illusionist dancer who was crazy about money; Rafaga: the captain of the guard who protected Princess Emeraude; and Innova: a faithful and devoted servant to Zagato, who later reveals his other animalistic side. They also met Ferio, an incredible swordsman who helped the Magic Knights whenever he could, and who also ended up falling in love with Fuu. After awakening all the Genies and evolving their armor and swords, they went to meet Zagato for the final battle. They managed to kill Zagato, but they didn't know that the Magic Knights' true purpose was to kill the current resident pillar, Princess Emeraude. The princess summoned them to put an end to her reign, as she could no longer play the role of pillar and was leading Cefiro to destruction, and only the Magic Warriors could kill her.
