Rachel (라헬, Lahel/Rahel; "Rachel"), also known as Michelle Light (미쉘 라이트, Misuel Raiteu; "Michelle Light") was Baam's best friend and an Irregular.[1]

Long before she entered the Tower, she wished to see the stars in the sky at the top of the Second Floor trials and betrayed Baam by pushing him towards "death" and deceiving all the other Regulars. She was then part of Koon's team until she betrayed them again and allied herself with FUG.

He was seen at the end of the Factory Battle commenting that they would participate in the Hell Train. He faced Koon and Baam several times in

on the Infernal Train and his team lost all the rounds of the Dallar Show.

Advertisement Appearance and Personality Rachel is a girl with freckles and short yellowish hair. Baam remembers that Rachel is a tomboy and likes to make jokes, when Black March asks him about her. He doesn't describe her as exceptionally beautiful, but he does say that she is a good friend.

Rachel has an affinity for storytelling and tales and it is a source of escapism for her. She probably enjoys talking about customs, old wives' tales, fairy tales and so on, from different times and places.

She is a bit manipulative, although not as expert as Koon Aguero Agnis or Yu Han Sung, and has a habit of lying to others.

Rachel-crown-game Rachel in The Crown Game At some point, the feelings on her face became a mask for her developing fear and terror towards Baam. Her fear of him is truly real, it is unknown why she did not simply stay away from the cave. Or if she was forced or was under instructions, then perhaps she still had to see him, even if she did not want to.

Her fear of Baam is so intense, that she tried to get rid of him by entering the Tower, and even betrayed him during the underwater fish test by pushing him to his "death". It is unknown why she fears Baam even though she named him Baam which in fact also means "night" or rather darkness. And this fear is probably related to her obsession with seeing the stars, as she is too scared to sleep in the dark and sleeps only in the light even after she had "killed" him. And when she was being transported into the Tower, Rachel told Baam that she was tired of living in "this world of darkness", which could even mean his effect on "her world".

According to Rachel, Baam took everything from her. And this is reflected in her nightmare where he is still there, even when she has finally reached the stars, he also takes everything from her. As he is the night, she probably fears that the light of the stars will not be able to end the darkness. Again, it is unknown if her fear is related to his tendency to unsettle people even if he doesn't mean to, making them look like a "monster" or even a freak of nature. What is known for now, is that she tried to take "revenge" (Rachel) on Baam as she held him responsible for leaving her with nothing. However, she felt remorse of some sort as she apologized before "pushing" him away, and even asked Baam if he knew why she wanted to see the stars.

When she survived the survival test, she was seen smiling and wearing a satisfied smile. It is unknown if that was a relief to escape Baam for now, or if she was apathetic to the massacre, or if it meant something more. Tower of God Wiki

Rachel (라헬, Lahel/Rahel; "Rachel"), also known as Michelle Light (미쉘 라이트, Misuel Raiteu; "Michelle Light") was Baam's best friend and an Irregular.[1]

Long before she entered the Tower, she wished to see the stars in the sky at the top of the Tower, though that was a lie as she was rather selfish and used that as an excuse to make them see how far she had come or perhaps to escape from Baam, because she is afraid of the Night (Baam)[2]. Like all the Irregulars, she was chosen to enter the Tower and opened the doors. She was likely subjected to the trials of the Guardians on the First and Second Floors, because each Guardian is prepared to test and fulfill the wishes of each of the Irregulars.

Both she and Baam were deemed worthy of being guided by Hwa Ryun.

During the Second Floor trials, he betrayed Baam by pushing him to "death" and deceiving all the other Regulars. He was then part of Koon's team until he betrayed them again and allied himself with FUG.

He was seen at the end of the Factory Battle commenting that they would participate in the Hell Train. He faced off against Koon and Baam several times in the

History Rachel's life before entering the Tower is as mysterious as Baam's. Her age and birthplace are completely unknown.

It is unknown if she managed to discover the cave where Baam was by accident or if she was instructed or forced or if she did it on purpose. She spent a lot of time with him and taught him everything he knows including literacy, education about the world, social etiquette, etc. She was also his playmate and caretaker, even cooking proper meals for him as he was very thin and malnourished.

She also taught Baam a board game, which turned out to be pretty good, and told him that the place "above" where she came from had a lot of people who played it.

Rachel has a great obsession about the night sky surrounded by stars and she told Baam all about them. At some point or another, she told Baam the story of a man who loved a star so much that he started building a tower to reach it.

In one of Baam's memories, there was a scene where Rachel's hair was being pulled by an unknown person.

Tower of God: Part 1 Along with Akryung, Rachel was transported to Evankhell's floor. In the first test, she encounters Androssi Zahard. They form a team that proceeds to kill everyone else in a 30-minute deathmatch, administered by Quant for her first Evankhell test. Whether Rachel actually fought is unknown.

This team participated in the first test at other facilities.

Crown Game She enters the final round of the Crown Game, in order to defend Baam's position on the throne. Rachel is attacked by Hwa Ryun, but Baam jumps off the throne in order to save her, which knocks him out as he takes the blow meant for Rachel. As Baam was protecting Rachel, there was a flashback of Rachel being attacked by a large man in front of Baam.

Rest

Rachel visits Baam while he is unconscious and reunites with Koon. She tells him about the legend of the Tower, and tells him that she had always dreamed of reaching the top of the tower and looking up at the starry sky. She asks Koon not to tell Baam that he had actually saved her.

Koon keeps his promise and tells Baam that the person he saved was not Rachel. However, Baam sees through this trick. He wonders why she wants to see the stars so much, because to him, she is "more important than anything else."

Position Test Rachel assumes a different name, Michelle Light. She positions herself as one of the 'outstanding' members of the Light Bearer group.

Hiding place She hides to avoid Baam, taking his lunch and moving away, and not even caring if this costs her extra points. While talking to Androssi in the bathroom, Rachel begins to doubt why she is trying to stay away from Baam. She has a dream where she is looking at the stars and sees Baam, and invites him over, but Baam is surrounded by all of his other friends and ignores her. She is very distraught by this.

She is then placed on Team B for the Hideout Test, the same team as Baam. She helps run the team with the other Light Bearers, until Ho shows up. Ho lures Rachel out of her beacon, telling her that someone was trying to kill Baam, then takes her hostage to use as a bargaining chip against Quant and Baam. When Baam refuses to budge, Ho stabs Rachel, causing her to scream in pain. However, Baam is able to paralyze Ho and rescues Rachel. Rachel tells Baam not to chase after her before losing consciousness. She was given treatment for her injury, but it was said that it was not enough and as a result, she was left disabled in her legs, apparently.

Later, in the Submerged Fish Hunt Trial, she is placed in a Shinsoo bubble with Baam. They are attacked by the Bull, who attempts to destroy their bubble. Rachel relies on Baam to protect her from him, but after he kills the Bull, it unexpectedly stands up, and pushes Baam out of the bubble saying, "I'm sorry, Baam. You have to die here."

After she emerged from the sunken level she was confronted by Rak who asked her about Baam's whereabouts, she breathlessly replied that Baam tried to protect her from the Bull's sudden appearance, implying that Baam sacrificed himself to protect her. Later, when Lero-Ro claims Baam's death she faints (apparently) and is taken to her room to rest. At night she is visited by Hwa Ryun and she opens her eyes showing that she was conscious, while Hwa says "Congratulations Rachel for becoming the heroine of the story", implying that all of her actions were an act to gain sympathy from others.

Shortly after, a Flashback shows Baam chasing Rachel. Rachel said that she will enter the Tower and asked Baam to forget about her. She was transferred to the Tower. Rachel met Headon, where he explained that she was not chosen to enter, Rachel refused to believe this, so Headon offered her the Test of the Ball, which Baam originally took, to which Rachel replied that she said she didn't want to die. After that Headon said that she should move out of the way because a guest has arrived. Baam arrives and decides to take the Test, while Rachel watches through a slit in the window. Rachel was screaming "Don't do it!" at Baam over and over again, but she was in a barrier at the time and couldn't be heard.

After Baam had finished the test, she asks Headon why Baam was chosen instead of her. Here, she chooses to blame Baam for taking everything from her. Headon offers her a deal: if she could fulfill his hitherto unknown request, he would allow her to become the heroine of this story. Headon prepares with Akryung, Yu Han Sung, and Hwa Ryun to get her through. After this, the flashback ends with Rachel going back to sleep. Before Hwa Ryun leaves, she asks why Rachel goes so far away to see the stars. Rachel replies that she is afraid of the night (Baam).

She then appears along with the other regulars as they move on to the next floor.

Wool Knot Rachel makes her first appearance in Chapter 23 of Part 2 as part of Koon's team. Even after 6 years, she is still part of Koon's team. A deceitful person, she is able to walk but pretends as if she is crippled. And she also pretends as if Baam calls out to her in her dreams but he doesn't actually do so.

It is revealed that Koon has known that Rachel could walk after the submerged fish test. After Rachel fainted, Lero-Ro secretly called a doctor, and the doctor told her that her legs were "perfectly fine." At the end of Chapter 25, she is shown bursting out laughing.

After finishing the Cannon Battle test, Rachel congratulates Edin Dan who had just been scolded by Koon, and tells him that Dan's ability is the one she envies the most, and she says that it would be great if he turned on her legs, but Dan pretends not to have heard and asks Rachel what she said, to which she replies that she said nothing.

The Devil with the Right Arm When FUG makes their move, Apple and Michael consider killing Edin Dan, since he witnessed everything, but Rachel walks in and asks if she could spare him so she could become his legs. Dan turns her down and tells her to fuck off, since he had two perfect legs and she could use them herself, after all she killed two of her friends for them. Out of rage, she stabs Dan in the legs until he is unconscious. She says not to talk about things she doesn't know about, and that she did nothing wrong.

Tower of God: Part 2 - The Battle of the Factory Epilogue She appeared, dressed in a brown robe, with a few other people who were part of her group. She welcomes Casano when he arrives with the Traveler to the place where they are meeting. She asks Casano how his mission went and if he brought Emile with him, to which he replies yes. Rachel praised him and then told her group that it was time to save the Tower.

Tower of God: Part 2 - The Hell Train Revolutionary Path Their group finally arrived at Train City and Angel asked where the old man and the other girl were, to which Raquel replied that they were on their way.

Daniel eventually joined the group and they proceeded to enter the floor where they encountered Mirotic. Rachel watched as Daniel fought the semi-illusory guardian, but remained silent even after he revealed that he could shut Mirotic down with a remote control. As the group entered the door, they were met by a spiral staircase and a red mechanical bird that told them it would take them to the Hell Express. At the bottom of the staircase, Rachel and her group arrived at the Hell Express.

They were soon greeted by Poro Poe, who told them that they would be leaving as soon as Ha Yura arrived. Suddenly, he heard a loud noise from downstairs and Daniel told him that he would go check it out. After a while, Yura arrived and everyone prepared to leave until Khun and his companions came out of the elevator, surprising them all. Rachel wondered how they had managed to catch up and Khun explained before taking out his Headlights and nonchalantly scolding her. Rachel responded with her Headlights and Khun charged in, but Rachel countered with one of her Headlights. However, Khun easily broke through her attack and prepared to subdue her until suddenly, Baam appeared, greatly surprising Rachel.

Beacon Control: She was an outstanding light bearer during the placement test. It is believed that being an irregular she must be extremely strong or at the very least, she must have completely abnormal abilities in controlling her beacons.

In Part Two, it is seen how the control of his headlights has improved, reaching the point of using a compression ability, but compared to what has been shown, his skills seem quite average.

According to SIU, Rachel's name comes from the Bible ([1], [2]). Her name is probably an allusion to a famous literary pun, from a Sherlock Holmes story called "A Study in Scarlet" (Chapter 74 author's notes). In one scene, a detective named Lestrade thought the bloodstained word "rache" referred to "Miss Rachel" but did not realize that "rache" means "revenge" in German ([3]). Rachel is also SIU's favorite character. According to SIU, both Rachel and Baam are deeply connected. For Rachel, Baam was the night and its darkness and for Baam, Rachel was his star and his light. It is unknown if the new name Viole, which also means "star" in Korean, has any foreshadowing or any consequences for their future relationship. The big SIU has confirmed that she is an Irregular, a fact accepted by Korean fans. The term irregular (비선 별 인원, biseonbyeolinwon, "the members who have not been chosen" or "Irregulars") is actually used to refer to her and other Irregulars ([4]). She is the second Irregular to be a Lightbringer after Tu Perie Tperie. Her position might have been the reason Akryung was paired with her. Spear bearers tend to work with Light Bearers, due to a function of the Beacon that guides and adjusts the Spear's trajectory. If so, it is unknown how Headon was able to deduce her position, long before she took the positioning test. Looks like Rachel meets Grace Arlen
