They are the most common of all slimes. They are harmless. Given the abundance of these slimes at the beginning, they are the best option to start the farm. They are the slimes that are most needed in Slime Science since most of the materials you can make are based on their plorts.

Puddle slimes are a rare species of slime that live in freshwater pools found throughout the grasslands. These slimes do not eat fruits, vegetables, or meat like most slimes. Instead, puddle slimes absorb water into their bodies while sitting on a water surface.

Fire Slimes are a special breed of slime that live in ash piles. Fire slimes will eat almost anything, but not without it being turned into ash first. The only way to feed fire slimes is to use an incinerator with an ash feeder upgrade (they are most abundant in volcanoes).

Phosphor slimes come out at night, flying on translucent wings across the moonlit prairie. Phosphor slimes have a luminescent gooey center that pulses with a soft glow, making them easy to find. For this reason ranchers sometimes call them 'fallen stars.' They eat fruit

Honey slimes are a rare breed of slime formed from a hyper-sweet slime compound. Most slime scientists believe this is a result of their slimy cells replicating the natural sugars found in the fruit and nectars of the Far, Far Range. Most ranchers agree that their plorts taste great on cereal. This slime is a favorite of many because its color and design looks BEAUTIFUL on any slime (except the crystal slime MOMENT XD) They eat only fruit.

The hunter slime is the wild cousin of the tabby slime. A far more capable creature than the playful tabby, the hunter slime excels at stalking chickens from the Far, Far Range.

The slimeological constitution of the hunter slime allows them to have a natural ability to camouflage themselves, making them practically invisible. The only thing that gives them away are their giant almond eyes, which can often be seen lurking in the dark. It is brown with black stripes. It likes to eat only meat.

A Dervish Slime is a turbulent, whirling bundle of energy shaped like a slime with a purple ring around it. Dervish slimes are commonly found in the Crystal Desert, zipping around the dusty dunes at high speed on small whirlwinds.

One thing is certain: wherever the slime dervish needs to go, he will get there in a hurry. He likes to eat only vegetables.

Believed to be a cousin of rock slime, crystal slime is covered in a crown of iridescent crystal spikes. These spikes appear to form from the crystal slime, generating a tremendous amount of internal heat and distorting the minerals around it - truly alien behavior. likes vegetables

The most elusive and sought after of all slime species is undoubtedly the Golden Slime. Very little is known about these elusive creatures as they have proven to be impossible to capture. The Golden Slime is lightning fast and immediately begins to run away from ranchers who spot it. If a rancher hopes to profit from an encounter with a Golden Slime, they will have to think fast. It eats everything. And it is friends with the lucky slime named Lucky. Meanwhile, Golden "the golden slime" is unique of its kind and many believe it is extinct "except for the survivor who has withstood the climate changes."

The Lucky Slime is a strange variant of tabby slimes that seem to have a fascination with shiny objects, primarily newbucks. A Lucky Slime will gobble up any coins it can find, giving it its distinctive jingling sound when it moves.

However, coins are not a balanced diet, and a lucky slime will voraciously devour meat of any kind. In doing so, its body will explode in a shower of newbucks, leaving very little room in its slimy belly. This explosion often sends the lucky slime flying into the air.

Upon spotting a rancher, the lucky slime will make a hasty retreat. No rancher is known to be skilled enough, or perhaps lucky enough, to catch one of these elusive slimes. The slime only eats meat and is friends with the golden slime named Golden. Meanwhile, Lucky the Lucky slime is the only one of his species and is said to be extinct. "But that's not true."

Slimeology
Quantum slimes appear to have resulted from some event that took place in the Ancient Ruins long ago. At any given time, the quantum slime is capable of emitting other possible realities from its being. These other realities called 'ghosts' can then be brought into reality, with the quantum slime aligning itself with the ghost's reality and effectively teleporting away.

Risk to the Rancher
Quantum slimes can be some of the most difficult slimes to handle, due to their unique abilities. A rancher needs to learn to detect when quantum slimes are ready to take over a ghost's reality and must act quickly, feeding them or simply splashing them with fresh water as a temporary measure.

Slimeology
The Mosaic Slime takes its name from the glittering array of crystal mosaics that cover its body. This crystal produces a similar anomaly found in the desert itself, making the Mosaic Slime beautiful, but quite dangerous.

Risk to the rancher
Mosaic slimes can be very dangerous to the unprepared rancher. Their glass mosaics create an iridescent effect in daylight that attracts other slimes to them. It is unknown why slimes exhibit this behavior, but the leading theory states that 'shiny things are cool.'

Even more dangerous, Mosaic Slime can produce flares in the space around it; extremely high solar anomalies that grow in intensity before floating to earth and bursting into flames. These flares can be put out with a little water, but the best way to reduce their occurrence is to make sure your Mosaic Slimes are well fed and not agitated. Mosaic Slime likes vegetables.

Slimeology
Tars are formed when a slime eats a plort unlike the ones it produces. When this happens, a terrible transformation occurs, turning the slime into a sludgy substance filled with a swirling prismatic compound of colors and an insatiable appetite. The tar seeks only to consume and replicate. Short of incinerating it or dumping it into the slime sea, the only way to stop a tar is with fresh water. A splash will stop the tar from reproducing into a new tar, and repeated splashes will destroy it completely.

As an alternative, many ranchers recommend running while waving your arms in the air and shouting.

Risk to the rancher
Tars are the biggest threat to ranchers. Tars will seek out slimes to consume and replicate themselves, but they will also devour chickens, nearby spoiled crops, and even ranchers!

Remember: Growing longs can be very profitable, but if you have a wayward plort you could end up with a devastating tar outbreak.

Slimeology
Boom slimes are often heard before they are seen. A boom slime's slimy cells constantly vibrate, causing its goo to crackle with increasing energy until it finally explodes. However, boom slimes always emerge unharmed, if sometimes a little dazed.

Risk to the rancher
Boom slimes are constantly gaining momentum towards the inevitable explosion, making them very dangerous for ranchers. In addition to these explosions causing physical damage, they have the ability to blow up all nearby slimes, making them very difficult to get back into the pen. Be careful with them because their explosions go over fences.

Plortonomy
The highly volatile boom plorts have all sorts of applications, including powering rocket engines and demolitions. Military organizations value their highly destructive capabilities for 'medical technology and other studies' - imagine that! Plorts are very valuable.
