Pierre Laurent was one of the most famous ballet instructors. Many highly respected ballerinas and ballet dancers came from Pierre's academy, L'Art Historique du Ballet in Paris, France. He firmly believed that if you didn't correct your mistakes right then and there, you might as well throw your pointe shoes in the trash.
