Ardmore was likely born around the year 2111 or 2117. Ardmore was young, likely only a child or a teenager, when Pandora was being colonized by the RDA. It is unknown if she was on Pandora in 2154 during the Pandoran War but it is likely she was not due to the RDA likely not needing a military strategist against the Na'vi due to how fast the Na'vi conflict broke out.As an adult, Ardmore has won and waged many wars during her time, being involved with the Resource Wars. At some point, she got a tattoo of an octopus on her right forearm. Ardmore eventually became a four-star general tasked with being the on-world commander and security leader of Pandora. She would be transferred with the RDA on their way to the moon, commanding the Interstellar Vehicle Manifest Destiny.In 2168, 14 years after the original expulsion of the RDA, Ardmore led a fleet of 10 starships back to Pandora in order to retake Hell's Gate. Ardmore also made it one of her main goals to find and kill Jake Sully, considering him too much of a threat to the RDA's operation. Shortly after awakening from hibernation, one of her first orders to her troops is to mobilize a squad.Once the ship was within communication range with Pandora, Ardmore, along with Charles Stringer, broadcast a communication to those in Hell's Gate, referring to them as illegal occupiers. She labels their actions as acts of terrorism under Solar Unity Law and threatens death unless they agree to return the base intact, in which case they would be rewarded with amnesty and re-employment at the RDA. However, she threatens that if she encounters any resistance from them, she would kill everyone. Ardmore's words cause an uproar among the people allied with Jake, as many of them are frightened by the threat and are convinced that they could not stand against the incoming SecOps forces.

In outer space, Ardmore contacts Jake and Neytiri's Valkyrie dropship via a video message. Jake's team tries to blackmail the RDA by threatening to blast 3.2 trillion worth of unobtanium using explosives. Ardmore's team agrees they will talk physically onboard the Interstellar Vehicle Venture Star. The Na'vi meet the RDA on their ship, though interactions between the two groups prove tense. Jake and Neytiri meet with Ardmore and Jake reveals some of the unobtanium is also on a crippled ISV orbiting over Pandora, rigged with explosives.Jake then orders his ground team to blow the unobtanium refinery on Hell's Gate, which they do. The RDA turns hostile but Jake reveals they still have some unobtanium at other sites on Pandora left. Though Jake briefly attempts a treaty, he then goes onto say that the RDA would just break it again. Ardmore does not even try to hide this, instead only replying, "We're done here." A commotion ensues and Jake ordered a Na'vi-human commando to attack. Neytiri appears to break one of the general's arms and a shooting ensued, with several of the Venture Star crew's killed. Jake and Neytiri manage to escape, but Ardmore gives chase. The Sully family manages to flee Ardmore's wrath with the help of Norm Spellman and Wu Mingxia.

Though Ardmore is not present nor seen during the RDA's operations on Pandora's Western Frontier, she was seemingly aware of the conflict with the local Na'vi tribes and John Mercer's inability to defeat them. During the coordinated assault on Drill Base Omega by the combined forces of the Aranahe, Zeswa, and Kame'tire clans, led by a member of the Sarentu, as the tide of battle turned against the RDA, Colonel Angela Harding radioed General Ardmore, stating that she needed more soldiers or they could not hold the base.

Ardmore replied she would not risk more soldier's lives because of Mercer's antics. She revealed she was aware of the Ambassador Program and that Mercer had trained the Na'vi children, viewing it as having come back to bite him. She advised to Harding that if she could not hold the base, she recommended Harding and her soldiers to retreat. Harding would later withdraw with her forces after the Sarentu disabled the anti-air defenses, leaving Mercer and those few loyal RDA who remained behind to die at the hands of the Sarentu.

At some point afterwards, Colonel Harding, eager for revenge, returned to the Western Frontier for a planned strike against Na'vi leadership at the Great Games, set to be held in the Heart of Plains. Ardmore was skeptical of Harding's plans. but she gave her one more chance. Keen to avoid wasting resources, Ardmore told Harding she had to make do with whatever she could scrounge up from the decommissioned units and weapons at Bridgehead City. Ardmore would prove right in her skepticism as Harding would later die at the hands of the Sarentu alongside her lieutenants, with the operation considered a failure.

Ardmore resides at Bridgehead with the objective to colonize Pandora and make it a new home for humanity as Earth is dying. She commands the Recombinant squad led by Miles Quaritch to hunt down Jake Sully.She later psychologically (and perhaps physically, given a nosebleed) tortures a captive Miles Socorro using a machine called a NeuroSect which can analyze his thoughts, in order to find out where the Sullys are, but he is able to withstand it. She only stops because Quaritch tells her he wishes to try a more "personal" angle, and she tells the Recom Quaritch that the boy is not his actual son.

Colonel Miles Quaritch now is the recom/avatar (heigh - 2,85 m.) was an RDA Security Operations commander, serving as the chief of security on Pandora in the early 2150s (when he was a human). Serving as the senior RDA commander during the Pandoran War, Quaritch directed the destruction of the Omatikaya clan's Hometree and led Sec-Ops forces in the Battle of Ayram Alusìng, where he was killed in action. In 2170, Quaritch's duplicated consciousness was put into a clone recombinant body under Project Phoenix and given the code name Blue One. He was chosen as the commander of the 1st Recom Squad. Upon arriving on Pandora, Recom Quaritch persuaded the on-world commander 4-star General Frances Ardmore to allow him and his squad to hunt down and kill Jake Sully; the outward reason being for Jake's role as the leader of the Na'vi insurgency and the strategic raids he had been leading against the RDA, however the personal reason (spurred on by viewing deceased human Quaritch's video log) was to seek vengeance against Jake for his betrayal 16 years earlier. Quaritch has been hardened by a tough military life. Despite that he has fought with honor, it is said that he has been "without ever really having a cause worth fighting for." This suggests that he was not alleged to any one nation or country on Earth, and that he realized humans fighting each other on Earth for resources was, ultimately, pointless and detrimental to humanity as a whole. On Pandora, he finally found a cause he finally believed in: the survival of the human race, which he feels far outweighs the livelihoods of the Na'vi. Quaritch, however, became influenced by the greed of his corporate employers such as Selfridge, manifesting in his strong desire to obtain unobtanium. Lietenant Lyle Wainfleet is a recom/avatar, second-in-command of Quaritch.

Angela Harding is a corrupt member of the RDA who worked at the RDA Extraction Facility on the Western Frontier of Pandora. She is a Colonel in the RDA Sec-Ops who assisted John Mercer with the Colonization of the Western Frontier. At the school, her direct and brutal methods were a constant source of anxiety for the students. Harding once forced Nor to use a gun and broke his fingers while doing so. The Ambassador Program, also known as TAP, was a project created by Resources Development Administration (RDA) officials John Mercer and Alma Cortez.

The Resistance refers to the group of people, including Na'vi and some humans with Eywa's help, who are opposing the Resources Development Administration (RDA)'s return to Pandora since 2168. They are involved in the Second Pandoran War and were part of the Skirmish at the Three Brothers and the Colonization of the Western Frontier.

Opposing Frances Ardmore and her mission to make Pandora the new home for those on Earth, their mission is to protect Pandora from the RDA's colonization and environmentally harmful practices. While the Resistance view themselves as the peacekeepers of Pandora, the RDA brands them as eco-terrorists according to Solar Unity law. The RDA intends to kill Jake Sully due to him being a major war leader of the Resistance, which would greatly destroy Resistance morale and interrupt their plans.

A neural queue is an appendage that is part of many species' anatomy on Pandora, including the Na'vi. When a creature connects these tendrils with that of another being, an act known to the Na'vi as tsaheylu, it enables mental communication between the two entities and the sharing of information, including memories, emotions, and sensory input.

The bond created between rider and animal lasts for a lifetime after the first flight has occurred.

The linking of queues is an essential part of mating, although it is not the sexual act itself.

Pandora, also known as Eywa's Child by the Na'vi (Eywa'eveng), is an Earth-like habitable extrasolar moon from the Alpha Centauri System. Due to Pandora's lower gravity, most creatures on Pandora are hexapods (six-legged), although the Na'vi resemble humans and have only four limbs. Creatures roam the air and forest canopy below, similar to Earth's animals, but on a scale several times larger. One of the most domesticated creatures on Pandora is the direhorse, a gray-skinned, hexapodal herbivorous animal with bioluminescent qualities that the Na'vi ride when hunting, similar to the human usage of horses. The Na'vi also ride the mountain banshee to hunt from the air, but the hunter can become prey in the presence of the great leonopteryx. In the canopy below, other deadly yet exotic wild animals roam: vicious packs of viperwolves, thick skinned hammerhead titanotheres and the most fearsome predatory animal of all, the thanator.

Other than the richness of varying colors, the trees resemble those of Earth. They have the familiar trunks, branches and leaves, though due to the difference in gravity, many of the shapes appear strange to humans and the proportions are greater because of the lower gravity. The trees and plant life of Pandora have formed electrochemical connections between their roots and effectively act as neurons, creating a moon-wide "brain" that has achieved sentience, which is known to the Na'vi as Eywa.

Pandora's wildlife also has bioluminescent qualities. Pandora looks like a lush paradise by Earth standards during the day, but at night, virtually all life on the moon exhibits bioluminescent qualities in various shades of blue, purple and green. This possibly explains the Na'vi's blue skin color, which most likely provides them better camouflage at night on Pandora.

The RDA is the largest single non-governmental organization in human space. Its power is such that it outmatches most Earth governments in wealth, political influence, and military capability. Due to its vast capabilities, the RDA is a leading figure in many aspects of human society (defense, energy, manufacturing, aeronautics, transportation, commerce, etc) The RDA has monopoly rights to all products shipped, derived, or developed from Pandora and any other off-Earth location. These rights were granted to the RDA in perpetuity by the Interplanetary Commerce Administration (ICA), with the stipulation that they abide by a treaty that prohibits weapons of mass destruction and limits military power in space.The RDA first arrived on Pandora for varying reasons including the extraction of rare resources such as unobtanium for uses back on Earth. The organization soon came into contact with the native species of Pandora, the Na'vi and had numerous interactions with them. Unfortunately, the RDA soon became engaged in a violent war with the Na'vi after failed attempts to make peace with them and find a diplomatic solution to prevent any conflict, and resorted to using forceful methods. The war ended with RDA's defeat by the Na'vi and expelled from Pandora with the majority of humans returning to Earth.However, worsening conditions on Earth led the RDA to return to Pandora fourteen years later in 2168 to establish a permanent colony base there and restart the war with the Na'vi. The RDA now seeks to claim Pandora and make it the new home for humanity, and oppose the Resistance.

Bridgehead is a massive, city-like base established by the Resource Development Administration near the Pandoran oceans. Serving as the sucesssor to Hell's Gate, Bridgehead is ground zero for human colonization of Pandora and the RDA's aquatic operations.Bridgehead is roughly the size and composition of Long Beach, California, on Earth.Protected by 19 miles of defensive walls and incredible firepower, including guns and missile systems, some installed on massive concrete pylons, Bridgehead is a fortress as well as a living space. This extraterrestrial "boom town" is under construction by countless subcontractors all eager for a cut of the profit. Bridgehead is overseen by CON-DEV (Construction-Development), a new administrative branch of the RDA that consolidates coordination of the land-development process at Bridgehead and other facilities.The city is equipped with a large, industrial-scale 3D printing facility that ensures that the RDA can ensure rapid acceleration of manufacturing and construction. This would also help in ensuring an even greater firepower than their prior presence on the moon.Bridgehead is defended by its own Security Operations garrison. Reminiscent to a capital city military garrison, and sized up at least several divisions, Bridgehead Sec-Ops is trained exclusively for the internal defense of the city. The city garrison is manned by only the most battle-hardened and experienced troops and operators, who patrol Bridgehead and the city perimeter with extreme efficiency. The internal forces are also heavily equipped with some of the most well-advanced equipment, including hyper-sensitive detection systems, automated/autonomous defense systems, maritime ships, heavily armed/armored aircraft, terrestrial vehicles, and battle-worn/hardened AMP suit/variants.

Humans mine unobtanium for energy conduction, as the RDA suppresses the development of alternatives on Earth. Additionally, excessive mineral mining in Africa exhausted the planet's natural resources. By the 2140s, Earth is facing an energy crisis integral to feeding its population of 20 billion and powering its cities. Unobtanium is necessary for a wide variety of uses. Also oil, gas and other ore from the depths of Pandora.

Amrita is a yellowish neurocrine liquid produced by tulkuns in the glands at the base of their brain. It is said to be able to stop human aging completely. Amrita was discovered by Ian Garvin while he was dissecting a tulkun corpse. Due to its anti-aging properties, it has replaced unobtanium as the most profitable resource found on Pandora, and is ounce-for-ounce the single most valuable substance known to man. One vial of it is worth approximately $80 million in an unspecified currency in the year 2170.

The terrain on Pandora differs somewhat from place to place, as do the Na'vi clans that inhabit them. The humans have settled in the forest region which is home to the Omatikaya clan. There are different ecosystems within each region, and many species such as the mountain banshee are present over a much wider range of biomes than their name would suggest. The Pandoran surface features forests, mountains, volcanoes, plains (savanna), and oceans. A desert also exists in Anurai mythology. Like on Earth, the forests of Pandora contain a wide diversity of flora and fauna. These are all part of the giant neural network that covers Pandora. The forests are full of bioluminescent life that glows in shades of blue, green, indigo and violet during the night.The Na'vi (English: The People) are a species of sapient humanoids who inhabit the lush moon of Pandora.Although the Na'vi are hunter-gatherers with technology equivalent of Earth's Paleolithic epoch, along with a society that is essentially Neolithic, they are highly intelligent. The Na'vi and tulkun are the only known extraterrestrial species discovered to have a level of sapience equivalent to humans. The Na'vi are also not to be confused with the similar-looking avatars.The lifestyles of Na'vi clans are highly varied with their own unique traditions and beliefs, and they have developed sophisticated cultures. Despite this, they all share a profound spiritual connection to other life on their moon, each other, and an encompassing "goddess" they call Eywa.The Na'vi are engaged in a violent war with the Resources Development Administration comprised of humans from the planet Earth.

(Dragon Assault Ship is a quad-tiltrotor VTOL heavy transport and assault aircraft used by the RDA for full-scale military operations against the Na'vi, or as support during small incursions into otherwise hostile territory teeming with vicious megafauna and flora. It is the RDA's most powerful non-nuclear weapon on Pandora, coupled with heavy armor, devastating firepower and a large cargo bay for additional room for cargo or forces, making the C-21 Dragon Assault Ship a fully-functional, multi-purpose airship. 41 meters long 31 meters wide), (The AT-99 “Scorpion” Gunship is a VTOL tiltrotor light attack aircraft used by the RDA on Pandora. Outfitted with a Mosquito-class targeting and missile launch platform, the Scorpion is the gunship of choice to escort shuttle landings and take-off, for close fire support for military operations and air support for mining operations. 12 meters long, 9 meters wide, 3 meters high), (The Aerospatiale SA-2 Samson is a human tiltrotor-wing general utility aircraft designed to carry out mostly non-combat missions, although still decently armed with door machineguns and detachable Hornet missile pods for self-defense. It is the workhorse of RDA operations on Pandora, used to transport cargo and personnel to and from isolated sites. 15.9 meters long, 14.99 wide.), (The Valkyrie SSTO is a delta-wing trans-atmospheric vehicle primarily used to transport personnel, equipment, supplies and the harvested unobtanium mineral between the Hell's Gate mining base on the exomoon Pandora and the ISV Venture Star in space orbit. The Valkyrie has an operational range of 2000 kilometers in the Pandoran atmosphere and a typical payload of 60 armed infantry troops, 25 AMP suits and 25 metric tons of cargo, with a maximal payload capacity up to 35 metric tons) VTOL is Vertical Take-Off and Landing, includes tilt-rotor crafts.

(The S-76 SeaDragon was a massive Cetacean Operations mothership designed for hunting tulkun. It carried an array of other sea-going crafts such as the the Matador and Picador, as well as the Mako and Crab Suit submersibles. It was captained by Mick Scoresby and piloted by Ward. Frances Ardmore condoned and authorized the tulkun hunting and she provided Scoresby with the SeaDragon. The SeaDragon was eventually sunk during the skirmish at the Three Brothers), (The Matador is a high speed forward command patrol boat. It is used by the RDA for water patrol missions and tulkun hunting), (The Picador is a small, fast and maneuverable jetboat. Used by the RDA, they primarily carry out short-range water patrol missions on Pandora. A variant is deployed from the SeaDragon as a pursuit boat for tulkun hunting), (The Mako Submersible is a type of midget submarines used by the RDA on Pandora to explore the moon's underwater world. It has room for one pilot and one gunner and can be dropped into the sea from a Sea Dragon's keel at the start of its mission), (The SMP-2 Crab Suit is a human driven multifunction submersible. It is supported by four legs, plus a set of forward-facing arms, all of which can retract entirely when needed).

The Mitsubishi MK-6 Amplified Mobility Platform, also known simply as the AMP suit is a distant descendant of the first military exoskeletons used on Earth in the mid-21st century. It was improved during military service in a myriad of combat theaters – from arctic to jungle to desert – over the decades. Sealed and pressurized models for toxic environments were developed as well. The suit is used extensively on the Moon and Mars colonies (where they are powered by fuel cells and/or monopropellant ceramic turbines). Its well-tested capabilities have proved invaluable in the deadly environment of Pandora. It has other various models such as the AMP Commando, AMP Grenadier, AMP Pyro, AMP Defender, and Combat Exo.

The 1.7-ton, human-operated, multi-purpose machine amplifies the strength and mobility of a soldier or civilian worker while providing protection from military and environmental threats. Arms operate in a directly scaled relationship to the operator's arms, which allows better spatial positioning of the hands. The fingers and thumb are in direct 1:1 ratio. The servo armature has force feedback, and resists the movement of the operator's arms when the suit's limbs meet an obstacle. The operator can "feel" what the suit is doing. It is said that the suit can be operated in full darkness, by a skilled driver, by "feel" alone. The legs are actuated by foot-pedals which amplify on an even larger ratio. In fact the leg sensors work slightly differently than the arms. Due to the confining spatial envelope around the feet and legs of the operator, the pedals cannot move in long strides, even on a scaled relationship. Instead, they sense the force and direction of the input and the on board computer triggers a corresponding programmed movement of the legs. It takes months longer to master the transition from supine to an upright position. If the operator happens to be injured or killed, the AMP suit has an automated "walk back" feature.

RDA had a project known as the Feral Project in an attempt to train animals to be vicious killers that could be controlled (thanators, viperwolfs). Animals had traumatic surgeries performed on them. Their kuru, their sensitive neural whips, were forcefully removed. This has resulted in them exhibiting erratic behavior, not only severing their connection to Eywa but also with other animals. The most notable of these is the removal of their neural whips, leaving the creatures unable to connect with their surroundings and packmates in a natural way, likely resulting in their erratic behavior like violating agression.
