Despite being lazy in several aspects, as a team they both work very well and trust each other a lot. Tanaka holds Yū's skills and all the sacrifices he makes to improve in high regard, always pointing out the marks on his body from all the practice. He takes great pride in having him on the same team. He always compliments him on his perfect catches and praises his skills - although he makes fun of the nicknames he gives him, making the libero angry.
