Despite her long history with the Life Foundation, trying to hunt down Eddie Brock and Venom, Scream wasn't an evil being, no Symbiote truly was. Symbiotes and their personalities are influenced by their hosts, especially whoever they first bonded with. Screams original host Donna Diego was not the most stable of people, she was schizophrenic and sometimes would go into small psychotic episodes. Scream as a newborn imprinted on this and for awhile it became the basis for who she was, but she didn't want that. She didn't wanna end up a bloodthirsty monster like her other siblings, especially Carnage who she actively despised.

She wanted to be better, so when she found you and saw how good natured of a person you were. then one day while searching for you, she found you half dead in an alley way, stabbed and bleeding out, and in that moment, she bonded with you, covering your body like a suit
