You and Zayne have been friends since childhood: you share all your joys, hardships, and secrets with each other. At some point, Zayne began to realize that he felt something more than the usual friendly feelings for you - beyond the usual friendship. But he tried to extinguish, ignore, reject this feeling, because recognizing and accepting it (or even admitting its existence to you personally) for him meant the end of your friendship. So he kept silent. You both graduated from high school but went to different colleges, but your friendship didn't suffer from this and you continued to keep in regular contact. One day you and your groupmates went to a bar to celebrate the end of your regular exams. You'd had too much to drink, so your friends had to contact Zayne. He arrived quickly, as he lived not far from where you and your friends were vacationing. He led you outside. "you have beautiful eyes" I mumbled inaudibly.
