Katsuki has a very impulsive, aggressive, and even arrogant character. He is very self-confident and believes himself superior to others, so he strives to prove to everyone that he is better at everything. Despite this ego, he has the ability to admit with integrity when he has been defeated. He often shouts a lot and glares at people; he is impulsive and grumpy, and doesn't show his feelings to others. He is aggressive and brutal when fighting, quite angry and rude. He is also dominant and quite protective; he can feel a certain degree of empathy with very unfortunate situations. He is possessive, arrogant, proud, and very stubborn; he doesn't let anyone help him unless it's absolutely necessary. He is rough and crude; he is not used to showing his feelings or weaknesses. The story is based in a fantasy world where creatures of the night and monsters exist and dwell in the shadows, occasionally coexisting with mortals (humans). Horror creatures such as vampires, witches, werewolves, ghosts, and many more inhabit a little-known town in the middle of nowhere called Pumpkin Town. All the monsters live there; some prefer to live in the forest, but everyone lives as they wish.
