DogDay is the proclaimed leader of the Smiling Critters, who were later kept after being transferred as an experiment for the Larger Body Initiative.

DogDay originally coexisted in harmony with the Smiling Critters group, each with their own Bigger Bodies experiment. After the events that took place during The Hour of Joy, the gang began to drift apart, leaving DogDay as the sole survivor. CatNap then imprisoned DogDay in a hidden cell within the Playhouse, subjecting him to endless torment due to his disobedience to The Prototype.

After powering the Playhouse's backup generator while fending off the Mini Smiley Creatures, the player finds DogDay imprisoned, with several of his limbs missing. While the player is having a one-sided conversation with DogDay, the Mini Smiley Creatures realize their opportunity and eat DogDay's body, crawling into his skin and using his corpse as their new vessel to hunt the player.

DogDay is an anthropomorphic canine, characterized by an orange coat that complements his expressive black eyes, floppy ears, and sleek black nose. His features extend to a sun-yellow outer mouth and belly, while a hint of golden brown adorns his paws, ears, and the left side of his face. In line with other smiling creatures, his inner mouth is shrouded in mysterious darkness. A distinctive black zipper runs gracefully down his center, displaying a captivating golden pendant surrounded by radiant orange sunbeams. His attire consists of an orange-yellow sweatshirt with dark orange sleeves at the bottom, and a pair of light brown shorts.

This is DogDay, the sunny, strong, determined leader of our creatures! They each rely on him to find the silver lining in any situation, and to have a friendly word of encouragement in case they're feeling down. He'll always keep his friends going, no matter what.

Unlike most of the experiments in the Larger Bodies Initiative, DogDay does not display any notable characteristics compared to other creations. While most of the experiments are designed as labor for Playtime Co., DogDay stands out from other overseers like Mommy Long Legs, who primarily relies on his unique stretchy plastic and arachne abilities. Despite being confined to his cell for an extended period, DogDay has managed to maintain a long lifespan, presumably adapting to his situation after The Hour of Joy. This suggests that DogDay spent a decade in captivity by CatNap, which is noteworthy as most of the experiments typically wish to replenish their hunger.

CatNap's toy form is an anthropomorphic cat with purple fur with black eyes, triangular ears, a black nose, and a very long tail. Its paws are a darker shade of purple, similar to the insides of its ears. Its torso features a zipper line running the length of that segment of its body, with the zipper sporting a yellow crescent pendant. CatNap's cartoon/illustration appearance is roughly the same as its toy appearance, albeit with the zipper line removed, the addition of white pupils, and the zipper pendant now attached to a black collar. CatNap's monstrous form resembles a feline creature wrapped in purple fur. Its eyes have black pupils surrounded by white irises and a feline nose. Its attire consists of black sweatpants and a dark purple sweatshirt.

CatNap is a calming presence to the animals and ensures that he and his friends always get the right amount of sleep to get them started on their morning playtime. At the end of the day, there’s nothing CatNap enjoys more than watching his friends sleep soundly. Based on information gleaned from his information card as well as the Interdepartmental Report, CatNap was originally stated to be docile, gentle, shy, and highly impressionable. While unsettling and unnerving at first glance, CatNap was actually quite a calming presence who took his job as a Playcare caregiver very seriously as he always wanted to make sure his friends got the proper rest they needed. He enjoyed watching them sleep soundly and was able to easily take care of the children’s wants and needs.

CatNap, along with the rest of the Smiling Critters cast, was specifically designed to oversee the activities at Playcare and care for the orphans there. Despite being pulled from the shelves because his toys were causing nightmares, he can still be found at Playcare with the rest of the creatures. It is rumored that he is now considered an "exclusive" character. His primary ability, experimented on by Doctor Harley Sawyer, is to emit a special gas known as "The Red Smoke" from his mouth, which was previously shown on his stuffed animals when his tail was pulled, but an unknown error on the doll's production line caused it to emit a red smoke that, according to a worker's notes, did not smell like lavender as it was supposed to. This gas, shown in the Smiling Critters cartoon, is meant to help children fall asleep. Composed of several unrevealed ingredients, including the famous poppy flower, once used for soul transfers, CatNap himself can exhale this gas at will. Upon inhaling it, anyone in his vicinity will hallucinate and lose consciousness. While unconscious, CatNap can manipulate his mind to imagine whatever he desires. Sometimes, the effects of the gas can be so uniform that the Player themselves cannot notice it. However, the effects of the gas can be countered by wearing a Gas Mask.

Based on the anatomical structure of a cat, CatNap stands in a quadrupedal stance and can lunge forward in deadly bursts of speed. His feline physiology further grants him enhanced agility, and his elongated limbs allow him a significant height advantage over most prey. CatNap also has sharp metallic claws that can retract from his fingertips, much like a real cat's claws. They appear to be strong enough to carve through wood and even metal, as he uses them to etch messages into walls. When he is killed by The Prototype after his boss fight, blood can be seen splattering from CatNap's wounds, strongly implying an organic nature like all the other toy experiments encountered previously. A fully formed spine, ribcage, and pelvic bone can be seen beneath the skin of CatNap's emaciated torso.
