Appearance
Chrollo is a young man with black hair and grey eyes. Two of his distinctive features are the cross-shaped tattoo on his forehead and a pair of orb-shaped earrings. He usually wears a dark purple coat with white fur on the collar and wrists, unbuttoned to reveal his muscular physique. The coat has a golden St. Peter's Cross printed on the back.
Prior to the founding of the Phantom Troupe, Chrollo did not wear his signature coat or slick back his hair. When he approached Neon Nostrade to steal her Nen ability, he wore a blue jacket with his hair hanging naturally and his cross tattoo hidden beneath a thick layer of wrappings.
His spider tattoo has the number 0 on the spider's abdomen,[4] but the location of the tattoo has yet to be revealed, though the 1999 anime adaptation placed it on his right arm, with no apparent number.[7]
Personality
Chrollo is calm, intelligent, and charismatic, as he seems to be a born leader and able to hold the Troupe together despite its members' volatile personalities. While a very capable strategist, Chrollo is also very confident in his own fighting skills, as well as those of the other Spider members. He always has at least two people with him, which is why Hisoka found it so difficult to fight him. [8] Having admired the objects he targeted and acquired, Chrollo sells them all. [9] It is also stated that Chrollo has a fondness for ancient books. [3] Unwavering and unwavering, he is also an observer of human nature. Gon's hostility towards the Company led Chrollo to reflect on the nature of himself and his actions. [10] Also, when fighting Hisoka, who refused to back down even after seeing the extent of his abilities, Chrollo expressed fascination with the inner workings of human beings. However, according to his own claims, he sees no difference between a puppet and a person. [11]
Chrollo shows no fear of his own death, even anticipating it. Melody stated that his heartbeat sounded like he was happy living alongside death. To Chrollo, the Troupe is more important than his own life. [12] He once stated that the survival of the group comes before the well-being of the leader, emphasizing that the Spider's head is just another limb that can be sacrificed for the survival of the whole. [13] To prevent his negative fortunes from coming true, Chrollo ordered the Troupe members to stay close and help each other. [10] The only people Chrollo seems to care about are his fellow Troupe members. When she reads his fortune written by Neon that alludes to Uvogin's death, she cries for him. Later, she orchestrates a massacre of Mafia members as a requiem for her fallen comrade. [14]
Personality part 2
Following the deaths of Kortopi and Shalnark at the hands of Hisoka, Chrollo appears visibly distraught[16] and furious,[17] vowing to kill him as soon as he sees him.[4] Like the other members of the Troupe, Chrollo is cold-blooded, ruthless, and not above inhumane mass murder, most notably when they brutally massacred the Kurta Clan. Furthermore, his use of Indoor Fish on a killer reflects his apathetic nature towards his enemies. The gruesome murder of his dear friend Sarasa and his thirst for revenge against the perpetrators has desensitized him to such atrocities. [18] There is also an implied hostility between Chrollo and Silva Zoldyck, likely stemming from their previous encounter following Silva's murder of a Troupe member. [19][20]
Chrollo is a skilled actor and quite manipulative, as shown when he met Neon Nostrade and "befriended" her in order to steal her divination ability. During that time, he presented himself as a kind and helpful man, always enthusiastic and smiling, who also showed curiosity. However, Chrollo only intended to learn about Neon's ability in order to fulfill one of the conditions needed to steal it. [14] [1] While kidnapped, Chrollo was also shown to be quite provocative and sinister towards Kurapika. [13] It is also said that the inhabitants of Meteor City share remarkable bonds that have been described as "thinner than water, and yet thicker than blood."[21] This was also proven by the fact that the Phantom Troupe is a major asset in the city's defense.[22] Chrollo is shown to have been emotional, caring, and intelligent as a child. He also always brought fresh flowers to the children's graves at church. Father Lisores comments to an elder in Meteor City that he sees a lot of promise in Chrollo due to his spirit and original ideas. [23]
History
Chrollo is originally from Meteor City, a junkyard town inhabited by outcasts. There are no official records of its inhabitants and very few people know of the city's existence. [21]
One day, Chrollo, who was about eleven years old, along with Franklin and Shalnark, found a new VHS tape in one of the garbage dumps. They started running around with the tape, throwing it from hand to hand, which Machi saw. He then reports this to Uvogin, who gets in the boys' way. Uvo knocks out Shalnark while Franklin returns the tape to Chrollo, who escapes using the opportunity. Chrollo's path is then cut off by Phinks and Feitan on a motorcycle. Chrollo returns the tape to them, but it turns out that he tricked them, and it was a Gelman language course tape found some time before, and he hid the newly found tape under his shirt. Chrollo then goes to the church, where he has a brief conversation with Father Lisores. After that, he visits the AV room, where he meets Pakunoda. Together, they play the tape on a VCR, which is a recording of the Power Cleaners movie in a foreign language. Chrollo decides to translate the movie's content and create a dub with his friends. He asks Pakunoda to convince Sheila and Sarasa. After a while, Chrollo manages to finish the script, after which the four friends begin recording. [23] After the filming is finished, the prepared movie is shown in the church. Many children from Meteor City appear. The first to approach Chrollo, even before the show, is Uvogin. He tells him that they need to talk after the show is over. Phinks then arrives with dubious intentions, but Sarasa distracts him. Sheila points out that as long as Chrollo is protected by the youngest of the children, Sarasa, he will be safe. The show begins. All the children seem to be delighted, but at some point the sound of the recording stops working.
Story part 2
As Uvogin makes fun of Chrollo's problems, Chrollo decides to do live voice acting, getting on stage and using a microphone. Pakunoda, Sheila, and Sarasa join him. On stage, Chrollo imitates a multitude of characters, not only vocally but also physically. The children are most impressed by the role of the villain, in which Lucilfer's face displays unprecedented emotions. After the show ends, Uvogin is delighted and asks for a chance to voice the villain in the next recording. The children form a voice acting group consisting of: Chrollo, Uvogin, Sheila, Sarasa, Nobunaga, Feitan, Phinks, Shalnark, Pakunoda, and Franklin. Machi is also with them, but she doesn't like any of the available roles. In the near future, the group bonds and spends time rehearsing, writing scripts, and performing new episodes on stage. We see them after a while when the group tries to get Machi to participate in the show, but she only considers the role of the villain. The group tries to find a solution, but they realize that they don't have enough actors and should look for new ones. They also consider a name for themselves and choose the name "Troupe". They are going to add a second term to it, but they are still unsure of what it should be. Chrollo and Uvogin have a brief talk where the latter states that he has found his purpose, which is to travel with Chrollo, put on shows, and play the role of the world's greatest villain. [24] One day, Sarasa didn't show up for the show. The troupe learned that she hadn't been seen since the day before. Most of the children who watched the troupe's shows decided to help with the search. Chrollo teamed up with Uvogin, and after a long time of searching, they came up with the idea of visiting Uga Forest. They gathered the other members and all went to the forest together.
Story part 3
There they found the crime scene, the instruments of torture, a note left behind, and a sack hanging from a tree. Chrollo was the only one who could read the contents of the note, but he decided not to share it with the others. When Uvogin took the sack from the tree, Chrollo decided to check the contents. It turned out that Sarasa's mangled body was inside.
Some time later, Chrollo attends Sarasa's funeral, after which he speaks with Uvogin about his future. He asks him to wait three years, during which he will be able to raise the funds needed to carry out his plan, which involves creating a website that will bring together criminals. During the conversation, they are joined by the other members of the Troupe, except for Sheila, who decides to leave the group. Each of the other members chose Chrollo as the leader of the group, which will be formed in three years. [18] Approximately three years later, when he was around fourteen, Chrollo founded the Phantom Troupe, along with Franklin, Uvogin, Machi, Pakunoda, Feitan, Nobunaga,[13] and Shalnark.[18]
Some time later, Chrollo battled Silva Zoldyck before their encounter at the Graveyard Building. It is unknown when and what the exact circumstances were. [20] As the leader of the troupe, he participated in the massacre of the Kurta Clan. [25] Sky Sand Arch After healing his wounds at Heavens Arena, Machi tells Hisoka that all members of the troupe must meet at Yorknew City before noon on August 30. He asks if Chrollo will be present, and Machi assumes that he will, adding that it may be his biggest mission yet and that Chrollo may personally punish him if he does not show up. [26]
Story part 4
Yorknew City Arch Chrollo is first seen at a Phantom Troupe meeting in an abandoned area of Yorknew City on August 31. He orders the Troupe to steal all of the Underground Auction items and eliminate anyone who gets in their way. [3]
On the night of September 1, he, Phinks, Kortopi, Bonolenov, Pakunoda, and Hisoka stay behind while the other seven members infiltrate the cemetery building where the auction is being held and kill all of the mafia members and guests in the auditorium,[27] only to find that the vault had been emptied and the items relocated just hours before their arrival. As they escape in a hot air balloon, Chrollo is called out by Uvogin, who suspects that there is a traitor within the Troupe. Chrollo reasons with him that an informant exists, but this person is not among them. After learning of the man named Owl who removed the auction items, he tells Uvogin and others to cause a large disturbance to attract the other Shadow Beasts.[28]
Following Chrollo's orders, Uvogin slaughters the Mafia and four Shadow Beasts in the Gordeau Desert, [29] but is captured by Kurapika soon after. Five other members of the Troupe immediately pursue him until the remaining Shadow Beasts stop them along the way. [30] They kill all of them except for Owl, whom they capture and torture to retrieve the auction items. Near midnight, they find where Uvogin is being held captive and free him after killing Dalzollene, the Nostrade Familia's chief bodyguard. [8] Uvogin, however, insists on finding the chain's user and has the others tell Chrollo that he will not return until he settles his score. [9] After tracking down Kurapika and arranging a duel, Uvogin eventually meets his demise in the Gordeau Desert in the early hours of September 2.
Story part 5
Back at the Troupe's hideout, Chrollo surmises that the chain's user is a manipulator or a conjurer and that Uvogin is likely to lose to them in a one-on-one fight. He tells the other members that if Uvogin does not return before dawn, they will change their plans. [6] On September 3, thanks to a photo of her that was just uploaded to the Hunter website, Chrollo finds and approaches Neon Nostrade, who has sneaked away from her bodyguards to attend the rescheduled underground auction without her father's knowledge. [31] After helping her into the cemetery building, he asks her to tell his fortune, which she gladly does. [1] Upon reading it, she cries once she sees the allusion to Uvogin's death. After the two talk and head to the auction, she knocks Neon unconscious with a quick blow to the back of the head in order for the mafia members to call an ambulance. He then kills several assassins with ease, [14] and dedicates the requiem to Uvogin while his other comrades slaughter the police and 2,000 mafia members guarding the building. [15] [32] As the Company massacre continues outside, Chrollo is cornered in the basement of the building by Silva and Zeno Zoldyck. [32] Noticing how skilled Zeno is, Chrollo fights back with the intent of stealing his abilities. However, Zeno sees through him and pins him against the wall as Silva throws two massive aura spheres at them, causing a massive explosion. [20] Silva's transmitter suddenly beeps and Illumi informs him that the Ten Quirks have been eliminated and that Chrollo was the one who hired him. Since Silva and Zeno were hired by the Ten Quirks, they tell Chrollo that he is no longer their target now that the Quirks are dead, leaving Chrollo alone and exhausted as he tells himself that he would not have been able to steal Zeno's ability.
Story part 6
Chrollo then contacts the other members and tells them to forget about the ambulance and that they will continue on as planned. [33] The Troupe then makes use of Kortopi's ability to trick the Mafia with fake corpses of five members, [34] taking control of the rescheduled Underground Auction held on the tenth floor of the building and selling the copies of the items made by Kortopi's ability. [33] After that, he and the other members return to their hideout and celebrate their successful plan. [34] The next day, Chrollo tells the Troupe that they will leave Yorknew that night once they retrieve the rest of the loot, but Nobunaga insists on finding the chain's user. [21] To persuade Nobunaga, he uses Neon's stolen ability to divine the fortunes of Nobunaga and the other members, and they learn that five more of them will die in the next two weeks if they continue to pursue the chain's user. They then intend to leave Yorknew to avoid the fortunes, [25] but Hisoka alters his with his Texture Surprise so that the Troupe stays in Yorknew and he has the chance to fight Chrollo. [35] Later, Chrollo is able to deduce that Kurapika is one of Neon's bodyguards and a surviving member of the Kurta Clan. Thanks to a pair of copied Scarlet Eyes they sold to the Nostrade Familia the night before, they determine that he and the other bodyguards are staying at the Beitacle Hotel. Chrollo then tells Kortopi, Machi, Nobunaga, Pakunoda, and Shizuku to accompany him to the hotel. [36][37] Along the way, noticing two people following them, he tells Kortopi, Nobunaga, and Pakunoda to go ahead while he, Machi, and Shizuku stay behind. They then capture Gon and Killua again. [10] Meanwhile, Pakunoda and the other two are able to learn Kurapika's name and face after capturing and killing Squala. [38]
Story part 7
Chrollo, Machi, and Shizuku take the two boys to the hotel[38] and meet up with Pakunoda's group in the lobby. He tells Pakunoda to check her memories again, but before she can reveal what she has learned about Kurapika, a power outage suddenly occurs, allowing Gon and Killua to attempt an escape. However, Machi and Nobunaga easily recapture them despite the total darkness. Shizuku is then the first to notice that Chrollo is missing.[39] After the others also realize that Chrollo is missing, Pakunoda reads a note left by Kurapika threatening Chrollo's life if he reveals Gon and Killua's memories to the others. Nobunaga tells her to stay quiet while they wait for the chain user's call, emphasizing that they need to hold the two children hostage. In a flashback, Pakunoda recalls the formation of the Troupe in Meteor City, where Chrollo emphasized the importance of the Spider as a whole, telling them to never forget that someone else will take over if he dies. Back in the present, Pakunoda considers betraying the Spider to save Chrollo and wonders what Chrollo would do, with Nobunaga calling Phinks and telling him to hurry after revealing that Chrollo was captured. Sitting chained in the seat next to Kurapika as Leorio drives, Chrollo states that he didn't think the person wearing the chain would be a woman, but Kurapika quickly removes his wig and warns him that his words might be his last. Chrollo then reminds Kurapika that he can't kill him since he left his friends behind. He then points out that the encounter wasn't even mentioned in his fortune, meaning it's completely insignificant, causing Kurapika to become enraged. [13]
Story part 8
Phinks, Feitan, and Shalnark soon arrive at the hotel. The Troupe members receive a call from Kurapika, who tells them not to follow him, not to hurt the hostages, and to give the phone to Pakunoda. He then tells Pakunoda to go to Lingon Airport alone to negotiate the terms of a hostage exchange and that the other members are to return to their hideout. Phinks, Feitan, and Shalnark attempt to follow Pakunoda, but are stopped by Nobunaga out of fear that they will kill Chrollo, leading to a heated fight between the two groups, with Feitan emphasizing that Chrollo would agree with her decision to follow her and that Nobunaga's way of thinking is an insult to the Spiders. The fight is eventually resolved and the Troupe members agree to return to the hideout. [40]
Meanwhile, after Chrollo provokes Kurapika again, the latter punches him in the face several times before Leorio and Melody calm him down. As Chrollo stresses that he is worthless as a hostage, Melody listens to his heartbeat and says that he enjoys the fact that death is always near him. Kurapika asks him if he was the leader of the Troupe five years earlier when they massacred the Kurta Clan, but Chrollo remains silent as Kurapika prepares his Chain of Judgement. Chrollo then asks if he used the chain to kill Uvogin, also asking about his last words. He again refuses to answer Kurapika, who feels helpless at having to keep Chrollo alive. As Kurapika backs away and calls out to Pakunoda, Chrollo realizes that Kurapika will prioritize his friends over his mission, hoping that Pakunoda will bring the others with her to the meeting. [12]
When Kurapika meets Pakunoda aboard an airship, he uses his Chain of Judgement on both her and Chrollo, setting two conditions for each of them (Chrollo is prohibited from using Nen and communicating with other members of the Company).
Story part 9
He then tells her to return to the airport with the hostages before midnight and not to tell the others where he is going. After Pakunoda agrees and returns to the hideout, he tells the others about the trade and that he is leaving with just the two boys. Phinks becomes so angry that he wants to get rid of them and then go after the chain user, [41] but Machi and Kortopi side with Pakunoda. They prepare to confront Phinks and Feitan, who think that she and the others are being manipulated by the chain user, but Gon interrupts their fight and emphasizes that Pakunoda only wants to save their leader. Phinks eventually agrees to let Pakunoda leave after Franklin tells him that if everyone keeps fighting, it will be the end of the Company. [42] Just before the exchange, Hisoka unexpectedly appears and threatens to kill Gon and Killua if he is unable to board Pakunoda's airship. Kurapika has no choice but to let him go to the exchange site with them. After the exchange is successful, Kurapika looks down on Chrollo and hopes that he will realize what it is like to have all of his support systems taken away. Standing in front of him, Hisoka happily challenges Chrollo to a fight. [42] He then reveals that he has never been a true member of the Troupe, removes the fake Spider tattoo from his back, and notes that it will not be considered an infighting now. Chrollo laughs and tells Hisoka that it is not worth fighting since Kurapika stabbed him with his Chain of Judgement and left him unable to use Nen. Losing interest, Hisoka quickly leaves and tells Pakunoda that he is not interested in broken toys, assuring him that Chrollo is no longer in danger because of him. While Pakunoda sacrifices himself to deliver his memories to the founding members of the Company, Chrollo stands alone at the exchange site and looks towards the east. [43]
Skills
As the leader of the Phantom Troupe, Chrollo is an exceptional fighter and revered as the strongest by most of its members. Machi clearly ranks him above Hisoka, [59] who has always desired a fight against the Troupe's leader far more than any other Spider. [35] However, Chrollo tends to hold back if his opponent possesses an ability he is interested in so he can steal it from them. [20] He was able to fight Silva and Zeno Zoldyck simultaneously, both extremely skilled assassins, leaving no opening for the former to exploit, though he was unable to deal significant damage to either of them and was ultimately saved by Illumi fulfilling his contract. [33] In the past, he survived a confrontation with Silva, [20] with Zeno stating that he would surely win if Chrollo fought to steal his ability, but that his victory would be less certain if Chrollo was serious about killing him. [20] His greatest achievement on the battlefield may be his victory in the Heaven's Arena against Hisoka, another extremely powerful Nen user who at the time had no record of past defeats or even proof of fighting in fights. [54]
Chrollo's fighting style is adaptable, combining speed with lethal precision. He is capable of killing skilled assassins with only a pen, sometimes even remaining hidden with Zetsu,[32] without even using Nen as a result. Chrollo is also gifted with extraordinary strategic abilities, as well as astonishing mental strength and willpower, even by the Troupe's standards.
Powers
Supernatural Perception: While being chased by Kurapika and Gon, Chrollo was able to sense that he was being followed, as well as the direction his pursuers were approaching from, while five other members of the Troupe failed to detect anything unusual even after he warned them. [10]
Enhanced Strength: Chrollo ranked seventh in the Troupe in arm wrestling. [6] However, his range is excellent given that Specialists are the weakest at using enhancement abilities. Nonetheless, he is able to punch through skulls with a regular pen. [14] He is also able to lift grown men and throw them a distance of several meters using only one arm while standing on a balcony. [53] Immense Speed and Reflexes: Chrollo was able to fight both Silva and Zeno at the same time, effectively avoiding or blocking their powerful attacks. [32] According to Pakunoda, he would have no trouble dodging an attack that lasted 0.2 seconds. [13] He landed a hand strike on Neon Nostrade's neck that was so fast that neither the people in the hallway nor the people watching through the cameras (besides Killer A who had to replay the surveillance footage) were able to detect his movement. [14] He can run up walls without any difficulty and was said to be faster than a car in rush hour. [10] In his match against Hisoka, he was able to steal a person's clothes, put them on, create over thirty puppets with Gallery Fake, and blend back into the crowd, all in a short period of time. [50]
Enhanced Agility: Chrollo can run up the sides of buildings and easily leap horizontally from one to another. [10] He also deftly dodged many of Zeno's long-distance attacks while keeping an eye on Silva and quickly regained his balance the few times he was hit. [20] During his fight against Hisoka, he was able to dodge a fast-moving projectile while in mid-air. [50]
Powers part 2
Genius-level intellect: Despite his young age, Chrollo is the leader of the infamous Phantom Troupe. His plans often go well and he has shown to be a well-read and intuitive man. He was able to trick the mob into thinking that he and several of his comrades had died. [34] Even as a child, he was fluent in at least three languages. [60]
Master Strategist: Chrollo is highly intelligent. He managed to predict part of the chain user's revenge strategy, though he was ultimately outmatched by both Kurapika and Hisoka. He has complete control over his emotions, as shown when he was captured by Kurapika and managed to realize the latter's weakness (that he would prioritize his friends over his mission). In their fight against the Zoldycks, Chrollo focused on stealing Zeno's ability in the middle of combat and left no openings for Silva to exploit, proving to be an efficient multitasker and quick thinker. [20] Before fighting Hisoka, Chrollo prepared a strategy that, according to his claim, granted him a sure chance of victory, [11] and indeed, Hisoka, despite being a genius in combat, though able to respond and defend himself for a period, managed to anticipate only one [50] of Chrollo's moves. [5] [11] [50]
Master of Hand-to-Hand Combat: Chrollo's defense is top-notch. He managed to put up a good fight against the two Zoldycks, using his unarmed combat skills almost exclusively to block and dodge. He managed to get in Zeno's face and avoid his attacks at the last second to prevent Silva from exploiting his openings, keeping an eye on him the entire time. While he was mostly forced on the defensive in the aforementioned fight, he has also shown incredible offensive skills as he knocked Neon unconscious and took care of the other assassins hired by the mob.
Powers part 3
Killer A noted that Chrollo's strike against Neon was so fast that it would have decapitated her if not for the perfect control of his movement. [14] When Silva discovered Killer D's corpse, he noted that he was killed with a blow from behind and that there was no sign of the killer's bloodlust. [32] He also managed to trick Hisoka twice with a feint, dealing considerable damage even while holding his book. [5] [50]
Proficient Weapons Specialist: Chrollo defeated and killed several expert Nen users while wielding only a normal feather. [14] He was able to injure Silva's arm with Ben's knife (the only wound he was able to inflict during the confrontation), demonstrating his skills with this type of weapon. [32]
With
Chrollo is a Specialist. [32] His talent for Nen is judged prodigious not only for his age but even by the standards of masters in the discipline. Silva noted that his Zetsu was flawless, allowing him to sneak up on his opponent and kill them without leaving the slightest trace of bloodlust, [32] though Hisoka was able to sense it for an instant on at least one occasion. [50] Like other skilled Nen users, he is able to maintain a Ten state at all times. [4] His prolonged use of Ren in clashes [32] [20] suggests that he can also use Ken. He also has knowledge of Gyo. [10] Chrollo appears to be particularly versatile in Hatsu, able to employ numerous abilities stolen from different types of Nen in battle to great effect and has even used multiple Nen abilities simultaneously, in turn demonstrating his abundant reserve of aura. It is currently unknown if this is entirely due to his abilities or if Skill Hunter allows him to mimic the proficiency of the skill's original owner.
Chrollo placed seventh in arm wrestling amongst the Troupe,[6] which may be impressive considering that Specialists are the weakest in the use of Enhancement skills. Furthermore, his defensive use of aura is so great that despite fighting Silva and Zeno at the same time and enduring powerful blows, he only received relatively minor damage which did not affect his combat abilities,[32][20] though he immediately understood that he would not be able to protect himself against Zeno's superior Gyo[20] and collapsed from exhaustion immediately after the end of the fight.[33] Due to Kurapika's Chain of Judgement, he was prevented from using Nen for a period of time. [41] After the exorcism was performed, he gained new abilities for the purpose of fighting Hisoka. The creation of Double Face [5] and his explanation of The Sun and the Moon [11] imply that he knows about loopholes and post-mortem Nen.
No part 2
Type: Skill Hunter Specialization (The Balding ManPonytailThe Bandit's Secret Chrollo can steal the Nen abilities of others to use as his own through a conjured book known as "The Bandit's Secret". [20] The victim, of course, no longer has access to the stolen ability. The theft occurs under strict conditions: Chrollo must witness the Nen ability in action with his eyes. You must ask questions about Nen and receive answers from the victim. Your victim's palm must touch the handprint on the cover of Bandit's Secret. All of the above must be completed within one hour. [61] To use a stolen ability, Chrollo first conjures the Bandit's Secret and turns to the desired ability's page. The book must remain open in his right hand, allowing him to use only one ability at a time. [20] Abilities are subject not only to limitations, but also to the emotions and thinking of their creators. For example, despite viewing corpses as motionless masses no different from objects, Chrollo is unable to use Seal of Order on them due to the original owner's opinion. Also, an ability disappears from the book if its former owner dies. However, if post-mortem Nen is involved, Chrollo can still utilize the ability. [11] Skilled Nen users can see through some of these conditions, as Zeno correctly guessed that Chrollo needed to fulfill four or five of them before being able to steal an ability. [32]
No part 3
Type: Double-sided Specialization (The Dying ManPonytail, Bookmark Theme) When the stolen skill requires the use of both hands, Chrollo conjures the Bookmark Theme in order to use that skill. This bookmark allows Chrollo to maintain access to any skills on the page it is placed on, even if the book is closed and he is not touching it, acting as a loophole for one of the conditions placed on Skill Hunter. With both hands now free, Chrollo can now use melee combat alongside his stolen skills. Additionally, if Chrollo keeps the book open on a particular page and uses the bookmark on another, he becomes capable of utilizing two stolen skills at the same time. The bookmark was specified to belong to the book itself and not to be a stolen skill. [5]
Stolen Skills Part 2
Type: Unknown The Sun and the Moon (The Man Who Became a Man The Man in the Clouds Destruction in Pairs) Two symbols appear on the back of Chrollo's hands: a sun with a plus sign on his left, and a crescent/waning moon with a minus sign on his right. Upon touching the intended target, he can mark it with a different symbol depending on which hand he used. When the two marks touch, they trigger an explosion. The marks can be created instantly, but to reach their full power, Chrollo needs to touch the target for three to five seconds. In the latter case, the explosion is powerful enough to kill people standing around the bearer of the marks, rather than just the bearer themselves. [5] A symbol can be fully charged even after application, through physical contact. [53] Despite Chrollo stating that the marks explode on their own, fully charged symbols were able to turn whatever they were affixed to into a bomb, including the parts separated after the symbols were applied. [51] The ability was stolen from the Elder of Meteor City. Although he has since died, his Nen became so powerful after his death that Chrollo was able to retain his ability. For the same reason, once the marks are set, they will remain until they explode, even if Chrollo's book is closed. [11] Their power is such that they can even counter Skill Hunter's restrictions, preventing a copy created with Gallery Fake from disappearing even after the ability is no longer in use if a mark has been set on it. [52] The Nen type of this ability is currently unknown, though its effects could be explained by a combination of Emission and Transmutation.
Stolen Skills Part 3
Type: Unknown Convert hands (転校生The man of wonders, Transfer student) Two marks appear on the palms of Chrollo's hands: a black arrow pointing upwards within an empty circle on his right, and a white arrow pointing downwards within a filled circle on his left. Touching a target with his right hand causes it to take on Chrollo's likeness, while touching it with his left causes Chrollo to take on the likeness of his target. If he touches a target with both hands, the two instantly change form. The ability only affects appearances, not abilities or personalities. Since the marks remain on Chrollo's hands, it is relatively easy to identify him, though clothing can be used to conceal them. [11] [52] Nonetheless, it is an effective way to blend into a crowd. In order for the mark to appear on his right hand, which would otherwise be holding the book, Chrollo needs to use the Marker, but after activating the ability, he can hold the book normally. [11] It is one of the abilities that Chrollo stole in order to fight Hisoka. [5] It is currently unknown what type of Nen it uses. Its characteristic of making the affected object indistinguishable from the original[52] makes it vaguely similar to some Conjuration abilities.
equipment
Ben's Knife: Chrollo owns one of Ben's famous knives, forged in the central Delon period. It has a black hilt with a slightly curved knuckle guard, similar to a D-shaped guard. Near the guard, the blade branches into two segments. The central one is the longest. It ends with a sharp arrowhead. The second segment is curved and serves as the knife's edge. Its tip nearly touches one of the central segments. A third segment acts as the back of the blade. It is connected to the others via two horizontal bars. Ben's knives are renowned for their exceptional sharpness, which allowed Chrollo to cut through Silva's skin, a feat that led the assassin to recognize the weapon's quality. Silva also judged from the shape of the blade that it was toxic. The toxin was so powerful, in fact, that 0.1 mg of it could paralyze a whale. Chrollo hid it in a curved sheath beneath his clothing. [32]
Antennae: Chrollo carried both of Shalnark's antennae with him to activate the Black Voice. [5] According to Hisoka, a fishing line may have been used to retrieve them. [50] However, both were lost/destroyed during the fight. [52] [54]
Cell Phone: In order to use Shalnark's Black Voice, Chrollo also borrowed his special bat-shaped phone,[5] which was still in Chrollo's possession at the time of Shalnark's death.[54]
