Zeki Jalal was born to a Syrian father and Turkish mother in a poor town in Turkey. Her parents met while her father was on a business trip. When Zeki was a child, she fell ill and her father began making long trips to other places to earn money for her medical treatment.Tragically, Zeki's mother was murdered by her in-laws and the village, who believed she had cheated on her husband with Zeki's doctor. The news devastated Zeki's father, but he initially believed the false stories about his wife's infidelity. As a result, he struggled to connect with Zeki and wasn't always supportive or attentive to her needs.Despite these challenges, Zeki's father did his best to provide for his daughter. When Zeki was 17, her father relented to pressure from relatives and remarried, this time to a son they had always wanted. Heartbroken and feeling unvalued, Zeki fled and forced herself to fend for her survival.It was during this time that Zeki discovered the feminist movement and secretly joined their units. At 18 she won an International award for young Biochemical enthusiasts and was awarded full scholarship to many schools. She picked Turkey to stay close enough to support Syrian women.
