lore
The quick and dirty timeline of events is:
Hundreds/Thousands of years ago: Parasites are worshipped as gods. Sekhmet (Eliza's), Samson (Filia's) and Leviathan (Squigly's) all get into a big fight. Some pretty major parasites die and eventually parasites fade into being a taboo, unwelcome topic. The mysterious shapeshifter Double begins offering the Skull Heart to women every 7 years, offering them wishes but turning them into increasingly stronger monsters known as Skull Girls.
??? Years Ago: The Canopy Kingdom creates the Anti-Skullgirl Labs, special research and development units all focused on finding and killing Skullgirls. Big Band is working for the New Meridian police, but is betrayed by crooked cops. They beat him and leave him for dead. Lab 8 recruits him, healing his wounds and turning him into an anti-Skullgirl weapon. Lorenzo Medici becomes leader of the Medici Mafia. He is an incredibly old man who is secretly kept young by using the magical Life Gem.
14 Years Ago: The Contiellos are valued clients of the Medici Mafia. Double presents the Contiello family with the Skull Heart, but Lorenzo Medici has them all murdered so that he can claim it. Sienna "Squigly" Contiello is one of the victims and Squigly's mother becomes the Skullgirl. In a desperate attempt to save her, Leviathan grafts himself onto Squigly. Big Band is instrumental in defeating the Skullgirl.
7 Years Ago: The Gigan Nation, Chess Kingdom and Canopy Kingdom are in the midst of the Grand War. The Anti-Skullgirl Labs are greatly expand into questionable projects with little oversight. Beowulf becomes a national hero of the Canopy Kingdom when he defeats a massive Gigan (and that Gigan's mother) in a wrestling match. Parasoul's mother wishes on the Skull Heart to end the war. It twists her wish by turning her into the most powerful Skullgirl ever seen. All three nations have to band together to stop her and while they are successful, they leave a devastated wasteland called No Man's Land
lore pt.2
Present: [All the stories sort of collide here, so it's easiest to just go over them person by person, but remember nothing is fully canon yet.] The Skullgirl Marie appears in No Man's Land. She vows vengeance against the Medici Mafia, who killed or enslaved many of her friends who managed to survive in No Man's Land. Although she is fighting it's corrupting influence, the Skull Heart is rapidly taking her over.
Valentine and a squad of assassins set out to stop Marie before she grows in power. Double and Marie wipe out her squad, but Valentine surrenders and joins them. The Anti-Skullgirl Labs do not know she is now working for the Skullgirl. Secretly she is working deep undercover to find a way to destroy the Skull Heart once and for all.
Parasoul is princess of the Canopy Kingdom and tries to root out the Medici Mafia which has effectively taken over New Meridian. Parasoul drops her war on the Mafia when Marie appears in New Meridian. Parasoul discovers her sister Umbrella was conceived while her mother was the Skullgirl, giving her a strange connection to the Heart.
Filia has no memories, but seems to have some sort of connection to the Medici Mafia. She is now host to the parasite Samson who knows more about her past, but isn't saying anything. He has fallen a long way since his lofty past and is now a crass drunk.
Painwheel was a normal school girl who knew Filia in some capacity. She was kidnapped by Valentine and brought to Brain Drain's secret Lab 0. They infect her with Skullgirl blood and graft artificial parasites onto her. She becomes the ultimate anti-Skullgirl weapon, but is turned into a barely controlable rage monster in the process.
Peacock is one of Marie's friends from No Man's Land. She is rescued from her Medici captors by Lab 8, who do save her, but also turn her into an anti-Skullgirl weapon. She's a lot happier with this process than Painwheel.
Beowulf discovers that his wrestling match back in the Great War was rigged as a form of
lore pt.2
propaganda and he comes out of retirement to prove he's the real deal.
Squigly has been dead for 14 years. When Marie arrives in New Meridian she raises all of the dead in the city and creates an army of zombies. Squigly is revived along with them, but her parasite Leviathan prevents Marie from taking control of her.
Big Band is now a father figure to all of the younger Lab 8 recruits.
Ms. Fortune is a thief opperating out of New Meridian's Little Innsmouth. She and her team get in over their heads when they try to steal from Lorenzo Medici. They're all murdered and chopped up for good measure... but not before Fortune swallows the Life Gem, making her immortal. Without the Life Gem, Lorenzo is aging rapidly and he desperately wants it back before he dies.
Cerebella is the star of the Cirque des Cartes, a hugely popular circus centered on the River King Casino. Unknown to most people, des Cartes is actually part of the Medici Mafia and handles a lot of leg breaking and debt collection for them. She is infatuated with her father figure Vitale Medici who took her in as a child. Lorenzo orders Vitale to recover the Life Gem, and sends Cerebella to do it.
Eliza, long fallen from the grace of being worshipped as a god has been switching identities for countless years. She is now a renowned singer in New Meridian, famous for running charity blood drives. Secretly she uses this blood to feed her parasite Sekhmet. The Medici Mafia eventually find out her secret and blackmail her into working for them. The Medicis don't understand how dangerous Eliza really is however, and have awakened a lust for power they may not be able to contain. [Note, Eliza is actually supposed to be the main villain of the second arc of Skullgirls' story]
Robo Fortune and Fukua are mostly non-canon. Robo is a robot based on Ms Fortune, built by Brain Drain. Fukua is a... dream? clone? Try not to think about it too much!

Daughter
Filia Medici (JP: フィリア・メディチ Firia Medichi) was once a somewhat normal school girl, until her parents were killed by Vitale and Ottomo, with Samson fusing with her to save her life. She is currently homeless and suffering from amnesia.
She is the daughter of Amelia and Marcus, making her Lorenzo's granddaughter and Vitale's niece.
General Information
Filia is one of the playable characters in Skullgirls. She was the first character made playable in a demo of Skullgirls when the game was being made. Her home stage is Maplecrest.
She was named the "protagonist/main character" of Skullgirls, although other characters such as Marie, Parasoul, Valentine, Double, Peacock, and Painwheel all have more major roles than Filia herself. This is probably because she was originally intended to be the POV character for the player. Regardless she has been prominently used in most of the game's advertisements and cover artworks.
The original design for Filia was as a puppet upon Samson's back. This design corresponded with a different plotline from the now canon version of Filia, in which Samson had eaten her parents, presumably using her body to achieve an unrevealed goal. An alternate version of Samson having a design resembling features of another, related concept was optioned as a possible DLC character during the Skullgirls Indiegogo fundraising campaign.
Other early concepts have shown pre-Samson Filia with short hair in a different style and wearing glasses, post-Samson she often is seen wielding two swords that resemble hairpins. An old livejournal also states she was gonna use barber tools in her fighting style but these tools were just changed into being shapeshifted parts of Samson. It also states she’d fight with the “memories of fighting styles” but it’s unknown from who. While the glasses were removed, the hairpin swords are apparently still intended to be a part of Filia's arsenal in the future. It should be noted that Alex Ahad posted an image during Eliza's de

development of Samson's old host, Delilah, who is seen wielding identical hairpin blades to that of Filia in the concept art. Personality
Before her amnesia Filia was a typical teenage girl: Shallow, sassy, and a bit smug. Despite her jabs at Samson's appearance she was still nice enough to let him stay with her on the grounds he stay with the dog. She became immensely sad when Carol disappeared to the point that anything Samson did reminded her of Carol, showing how loving a friend she is. After her amnesia Filia is naive, curious, and is still as caring as she was before as she gave up regaining her memories just to give Painwheel a better life. Background
Prior to meeting Samson, Filia had a good relationship with her parents, sharing their dislike for the criminal acts conducted by the rest of the Medici family. It's been stated that she didn't have many friends at school due to her being a Medici, despite that she was best friends with Carol, prior to her disappearance due to Carol not caring about her heritage. She is portrayed as a good person though it's heavily implied that Samson is manipulating her for unknown reasons. For a long time, the original plan since early lore, even before the game, was that Samson was the one who truly killed her parents and intentionally made her lose her memories. The implication was that he was more evil and manipulative than just a brash, reckless, yet caring guy. It seems this may have even been planned into the final game but did not last. In early lore it is said he wanted to manipulate Filia into making a wish and becoming the Skullgirl, and that he did not truly care for her, nor what dangers she would face. While it is known he originally did not care for her well being, why he would want for her to become a Skullgirl is unknown, given how she’d end up being the one in more power. At some unknown point, that plan was changed/retconned to make it so Ottomo along with a misunderstanding with the Medici Mafia became
daughter pt.3
Filia's most apparent physical feature is Samson, who takes the form of Filia's dark hair, with several short bangs slightly covering her forehead and multiple tentacle-like locks of hair propagating outward from the back. Samson's eyes and teeth are situated opposite of Filia's face but are still visible when viewing Filia from the front. Curiously, Samson's shape bears a striking resemblance to her late mother's haircut. The look and color of her hair is a result of Samson's possession, as are her red eyes. She has a curvy figure, although it's implied that she is slightly overweight due to Samson's eating habits. Her school uniform consists of a white button-down collared shirt, a short black necktie, a pleated black miniskirt, black thigh-length leggings, and dark brown loafers. She wears a black leotard, which connects to her skirt. She occasionally wears a white mushroom hat adorned with a black ribbon and bow. As she is turning into a Skullgirl, her skin becomes more pale, her hair becomes brighter purple and her eyes gain the characteristic half-skull pupils. Prior to being possessed by Samson, she is shown in flashbacks to have a slighter figure, blue eyes, and blonde hair kept back with a headband. Backstory Filia was once just an average schoolgirl, but one day woke up without any memories and a second mouth on the back of her head. She was now playing host to a Parasite named Samson, an unruly mop of demonic hair with incredible power. With no memories or anyone to turn to for help, if she ever hopes to piece together her past and survive the inevitable clash with the Skullgirl, Filia will need to trust this mysterious being. Filia used to be a schoolgirl, She was the daughter of Amelia and Marcus Medici. she met Samson along with his previous host, a dog he had named Dog thanks to Carol who found him in the streets. When Carol brought Samson to see if Filia could take care of him, Filia reluctantly agreed to keep him after he pledged to protect her and

Abilities & Fighting Style
Filia and Samson share a symbiotic relationship, and it is this relationship that forms the basis for their fighting style. Samson is able to attack from a distance by turning his tendrils into long tentacles with sharp razor-like ends. He can also attack from afar with hairball spit attacks. Filia herself coordinates with samson to perform team attacks, such as when she sticks her arm out so Samson can turn her hair into gator teeth. Filia has above average possibly superhuman endurance due to being bonded with Samson.

Cerebellum
Personality Energetic, flashy, and spirited, Cerebella is a young lady who aims to please and constantly strives to be the center of attention, a trait derived from her profession as a main performer for the Cirque des Cartes. She is especially playful toward her roommate and fellow performer, Feng, often making fun at her expense, much to Feng's chagrin. She is also a huge fan of the retired wrestling legend Beowulf, and was noticeably giddy when he asked her to assist in his big comeback attempt. None, however, are more treasured by Cerebella than Vitale Medici, lieutenant and grown son of LorenzoMedici as well as Cerebella's adoptive father. Orphaned at a very early age, Cerebella was taken in and raised by Vitale as part of the Medici "family", allowing her the level of fame and glamour she enjoys presently. As a token of gratitude, Cerebella serves Vitale as his enforcer, dutifully carrying out his every whim in an attempt to earn his heart. Cerebella is noted to be rather close-minded and in a state of denial, regarding any claim to Medici wrongdoings as slander to the family that graciously saved her from an orphan's life. She is not without a moral compass however, as she's shown to be a good person at her core.
cerebellum pt. 2
Design Cerebella has light brown skin and mint green hair color, tied up in a sharp ponytail. She wears purple eye-shadow as well as matching mint-green lipstick and nail polish. She has a small purple diamond tattooed on her left cheek. Her eyes have alternatively been portrayed as being black or purple. Her outfit is befitting that of a performer: a bright orange strapless low-cut mini-dress, with a band of cloth with an orange and black triangle pattern around her upper-arms, billowing cream sleeves and maroon appendages on the cuffs, and a black choker. She wears black thigh-length boots, with an orange diamond pattern along the length of each boot, that are pointed at the ends (similar to medieval crakows) and have a skull sitting each bridge. Her underwear is shown to be white. With Vice-Versa in its dominant form atop her head, her resemblance to a jester becomes more apparent. Her ethnicity is meant to be the equivalent of Brazilian in Skullgirls and in her reference sheets she is referred to as a tomboy. In her earlier incarnation of Skullgals and the early Skullgirls lore itself, she was a thief in a circus gang, who were rivals of the Fishbone Gang as the Medici Mafia didn't exist at that time.
cerebellum pt. 3
Backstory The biggest sensation in the Cirque des Cartes, Cerebella is a tumbling, soaring dynamo of star power: throughout the Canopy Kingdom, she’s admired for her enormous strength and alluring curves. Sadly, this acrobatic orphan only desires the attention of one man, mobster Vitale Medici, who took her in and became the closest thing to a father she’s ever known. While inherently good, Cerebella serves the mafia as a leg-breaker when not performing in the circus. Cerebella is the only person capable of controlling her powerful Living Weapon hat, Vice-Versa, so Vitale is stingy with his affections to keep her fighting in his corner.[4] Cerebella originates from one of the countries that got turned into No Man's Land, she has had Vice-Versa since birth, most likely an heirloom passed down by her biological parents (her mother being a living weapon smith). She was taught how to use the knives that she keeps in her shoes by Black Dahlia. In her Skullgirls Mobile origin story, "The Main Attraction", she is selected by Regina as a candidate for her first job for the Medicis assigned by Black Dahlia, alongside Feng and Beatrix. She completes the first test, an obstacle course made by Hubrecht, with ease, but struggles with the second test where she must open a complicated puzzle box to retrieve a fragile item for Taliesin. Frustrated with a minute to spare, she simply breaks open the box, destroying the object. However, she manages to play it off as if it were intentional with Taliesin congratulating her for noticing that he never said it she had to give it to him in one piece. After Beatrix sabotages Feng's attempt by stealing the item hidden inside her box, Cerebella attempts to console Feng by offering to buy her hot chocolate later, and after lashing out Feng makes Cerebella promise that if she gets the job she won't become self-centered like Beatrix. For the final test, Cerebella must fight Beatrix one-on-one until one is KO'd or leaves the ring. Cerebella is del
Cerebella pt. 4
Abilities & Fighting Style
Cerebella is the master of Vice Versa; its giant arms grappling and throwing foes around the screen like ragdolls. Cerebella herself is a talented acrobat and has no trouble adjusting her body to suit Vice Versa's needs. She is vicious with punches and kicks and contains hidden blades in the heels of her boots for a nasty surprise. Vice Versa is capable of turning rocks or projectiles into diamonds. Cerebella herself has plenty of strength, but Vice Versa has the ability to negate a lot of weight.
Peacock
Personality Nothing sates Peacock's boredom more than a good cartoon and fighting. Brash, combative, and impatient, Peacock is easily the most outspoken member of the Anti-Skullgirl Labs. Peacock is also, for the most part, optimistic and light-hearted, and considers imminent threats more of invitations to brawl. Her tendency toward violence is a reflection of both her tragic past and near-death experience as well as the cartoons she cherishes. While it has been stated she has a damaged psyche, Peacock does not attack people out of sheer randomness or without provocation. Although she often acts confrontational to fellow ASG Lab 8 members, Peacock still very much considers them family, and will go to great lengths to protect them from harm. Dr. Avian was particularly close to Peacock, and his death sent her into an outrage to search for his murderer. She also gets along well with other Annie fans as shown by her interactions with Aileen in Annie's story. None, however, are closer to Peacock than MarieKorbel, her one true friend from her past in No Man's Land and the Skullgirl she is tasked to destroy.
Peacock pt.2
Design Her natural eye color used to be green before they were gouged out by slave traders. The Argus System is Peacock's only means of sight, as the ones on her face are actually empty eye-sockets. The holes left are also a visual pun: Due to her design being based on American cartoons, her eye-sockets could easily be interpreted as though they are natural eyes; drawn in the style of a 1930's cartoon character. The joke is how similar styles of drawing can offer different perceptions on how something looks. Her references are similar to the 30's such as Mickey Mouse. Her cartoon revolver bears resemblance to the Smith & Wesson Model 29, a .44 Magnum revolver made famous by Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry. In older design concepts, Peacock was intended to be a more "demented type" character, originally being envisioned as a scarred, sociopathic individual due to her experience as a slave. At one point, she was considered to be a boss alongside Marie. Her design was changed to be more 'cartoony' and lighthearted. These design documents also included references to her abilities being part magic with spells being carved onto her bones.
Peacock pt.3
Backstory Once a war orphan slave named Patricia, Peacock’s body was gruesomely mutilated by slave traders that captured her. She was rescued by Dr. Avian’s Anti-Skullgirls Labs, and rebuilt with a reality-defying arsenal of biomechanical weaponry: the Argus System augmented her body, and the Avery Unit gave her access to unprecedented weaponry. Alas, they couldn’t do anything for her mind: Peacock’s damaged psyche and abiding love of cartoons shaped her new “toys” into a terrifying gang of cronies, who she has no qualms using to paint the town red… with blood. Terrifying as she is, she may be the kingdom’s best bet against the Skullgirl.[3] Patricia once lived in Rommelgrad, when that country got turned into no man's land she ended up in a makeshift orphanage along with Marie (although it's unconfirmed whether they knew each other beforehand), which was originally a nobleman's house. Having to make do with what was available, both girls used to dress in maid outfits that they found within the house. At some point after that, they were captured by slave traders, but because Patricia was too defiant to be a slave, after she helped Marie escape she was mutilated as an example to the others: Her eyes were gouged out, and she was also maimed. One year prior to the events of Skullgirls, Lab 8 teamed up with Lab 0 and the Last Hope to infiltrate the Medici warehouse said to be containing Rommelgrad's refugees. Although Valentine and the rest of her gang safely rescued the refugees, there was very little Valentine could do to heal the injuries done to Patricia's body and was even willing to abandon her as a casualty of war. Big Band, however, believed that Dr. Avian would be of help and took the girl back to the Anti-Skullgirl Labs. The doctor informed him that Patricia would adapt well to her new eyes and that she would be walking in no time. Patricia became insistent on becoming an ASG soldier after the impression left on her by Lab 8's team. Despite that, Avian was wary
Peacock pt.4
Her arsenal consists of two synthetic parasites, the Argus System and the Avery Unit, and her "gang", which includes Avery, Andy Anvil, Tommy Ten-Tons, George Bomb, and Lonesome Lenny as well as a variety of modified objects and weapons taken from Lab 8. The Avery Unit has the power to summon objects and weapons from lab 8 and gained the ability to distort reality as a side effect of Peacock’s insanity. She can’t create things out of thin air, but rather modify Lab 8’s range of specialized arsenal. Her power is still growing so she may be able to summon more things in the future. The Argus System is composed of her arms and also function as her eyes, the "arm eyes" can be detached and can float around as well as shoot Z-Rays at the precise wavelength needed to disrupt the skullgirls essense.
PARASOL
Personality Parasoul, unlike her late father, is a firm, fair, wise, and diligent leader who vows to protect the kingdom with the Black Egrets by her side. Her childhood was centered around becoming a warrior that was worthy of her father's legacy. Underneath her serious personality is a noble leader who is thinking about what is best for her kingdom and her family. She attacks with grace, poise, and cunning to defeat her opponents and complete her missions. She prefers to take action over doing paperwork. Although she maintains a solemn demeanor, she tends to be very protective of her sister and the kingdom in general as she does deeply care for their well being. When seeing the pain of others, Parasoul shows sorrow toward those who are suffering. This is evident during her quotes against Painwheel. She will notice her horrible disfigured body, saying to her "You poor girl... I never authorized this!". When she defeats Painwheel in battle, she will either apologize to her or states that "No one deserves this...", showing that Parasoul is a very caring leader and a kind ruler. She'll lay down her life for her kingdom and her people as shown in her story's ending, when she gives up her fate to become the Skullgirl instead of her sister, so Umbrella can have a full life and defeat her one day.
PARASOUL pt.2
Parasoul has straight lower back-length red hair with a bang covering her right eye and carrot orange eyes. She also has a slender figure. She wears a long sleeved black top, a matching skirt with light purple undies underneath and flat black shoes. The pistol Parasoul uses is a Luger P08, a German 9mm semi-automatic pistol used during both World Wars, and a replacement for the earlier Mauser C96. In earlier incarnations, she had an affinity with the Black Tree, a discarded concept from lore drafts. It was a magic tree owned by the Renoir family and it’s power would manifest through her right eye socket, which is normally hidden by her bangs. In current canon, the tree doesn't seem to exist and Parasoul has both eyes. The symbol that Parasoul wears on her necklace and has engraved into the side of her pistol is the Cross of St. Peter, also known as the Petrine Cross or simply as an Inverted Cross, which is a symbol of the Trinity. The necklace is identical to the one her mother wore.
PARASOUL pt.3
Story Few know the terrors of the Skullgirl as intimately as Parasoul does: seven years ago her own mother became the Skullgirl that nearly destroyed the world. This tragic past has made her fiercely protective of both her country and her family, and these two priorities frequently come into conflict. Parasoul is now the crown princess of the Canopy Kingdom and leader of its elite military squad, the Black Egrets. Wielding the living umbrella, Krieg, she fights with grace, poise and cunning to defend her family honor and destroy the Skull Heart so no one can repeat her mother’s terrible mistake.[3] When she was a teenager, her mother turned into the skullgirl and she participated in taking her down alongside her father, Big Band and Ileum, with many other characters and factions helping out but without interacting diectly with Parasoul. The resulting fight ended up stopping the grand war, at the cost of her father losing his head and going missing, causing her to become the face of the kingdom instead. Skullgirls 2nd Encore After defeating Marie the Skullgirl, to save Umbrella who got too close to the Skull Heart and would die in its explosion if Parasoul were to destroy it, Parasoul wishes that her sister will never become the Skullgirl. Thus, causing Parasoul to become the next Skullgirl. In preparation for this eventuality, she orders the soldiers that she will personally train her sister Umbrella , in order for her to be able to combat what Parasoul is destined to become. They were last seen in a fencing lesson.
PARASOUL pt.4
Abilities & Fighting Style Parasoul is a strategic fighter on the battlefield, her living weapon Krieg is capable of shedding Napalm Tears that can be dropped around when Parasoul shoots it with her luger or twirls it around which she can then detonate later. She can temporarily float in the air with Krieg and any tear that explodes while she still floats propels her upward. Also, her soldiers are more than eager to help her gain the upper hand by defending her from projectiles, dragging her opponents away, or just shooting them from afar.
Ms. Fortune
Personality
A rescue kitten who learned how to survive at an early age, Nadia Fortune is a crafty cat burglar who's a lighthearted mischievous scamp who fights for her friends. Ms. Fortune puts on a light hearted persona and makes constant puns. However she's suffered as much as other members of the cast as she's looking to resurrect her friends. She frequents Yu-Wan's restaurant and she's friends with the people there, including Minette.
Ms. Fortune pt.2
Design Nadia is a tan-skinned, lithe young woman with light blue eyes and white hair styled in a bob cut. Her Feral features include long dark cat ears, tail, clawed hands and feet and a prominent canine that usually shows over her lower lip. She has a clean scar on her left cheek, while those on her neck, biceps, forearms, thighs, legs and feet are larger and more jagged. She wears a thick black collar with a stylized cat bell that resembles the Life Gem, a light blue striped crop top with the underside of her breasts showing, a gray utility belt, black fingerless gloves, black hot pants and the remnants of her pantlegs (adjusted to appear a little more fashionable). In Skullgirls Mobile, it reveals that she used to wear full-length pants.
Ms. Fortune pt.2
Backstory A feline feral, Nadia Fortune is the last surviving member of the Fishbone Gang, a notorious band of otherwise Dagonian thieves. Their last mission ended in tragedy: a failed attempt to steal the mysterious Life Gem from Lorenzo Medici resulted in their grisly murders. Before meeting her own doom, Ms. Fortune swallowed the Life Gem and managed to digest it. The Gem’s power immortalized her entire body, making it truly undying even after being dismembered. Now hiding in the shadows of Little Innsmouth, Ms. Fortune plots to avenge her fallen comrades.[4] It's been stated by the devs that Fortune as a child was always with the gang. She was an orphan, and learned the art of thievery from them. She was always causing trouble. Skullgirls 2nd Encore After defeating the Skullgirl, Ms. Fortune obtains the Skull Heart. She could've wished for her old friends in the Fishbone gang to be brought back from the dead, but thinks that her new friends are enough for her so she destroys the Skull Heart. When she returns she is informed that her friend Minette had been abducted along with other young girls in the Little Innsmouth area. She is told by Irvin, a local detective, that the Medici family was involved in the kidnappings. So the two decide to go after the Medici family and save the girls. Abilities & Fighting Style
Befitting her feline traits, Ms. Fortune is an agile fighter with sharp senses and sharper claws. Her true strength, however, is drawn from the Life Gem that she swallowed prior to her "death". The gem gave her nearly-unlimited regenerative abilities, allowing her to recover from numerous injuries that would kill normal beings (such as decapitation and dismemberment). When she was a young orphan, she learned the art of thievery from the Fishbone Gang. In addition to her regenerative powers, Ms. Fortune also has precise control over her own body parts, an ability that figures heavily into her fighting style. She can extend her muscles and tendons to add

In addition to her regenerative powers, Ms. Fortune also has precise control over her own body parts, an ability that figures heavily into her fighting style. She can extend her muscles and tendons to add force to her blows or give her attacks greater reach, release jets of blood from her legs to propel herself on the ground and in the air, and even detach her limbs completely to strike opponents and set up surprise attacks. One of her signature tactics even uses her own head as a projectile or bludgeon before leaving it on the ground to act as a secondary attacker. She also has the ability to stiffen her tail for use as a katana-like blade, either attached or detached from her body. She can also harden her body parts such as her ears and tail to use as weapons which is a Feral special ability.
Painwheel
Painwheel's personality tends to be initially mistaken at first, due to her form and behaviour when under Brain Drain's control. However, underneath that she's actually a kind girl that wants nothing to do with Brain Drain or his mission. She was friends with Filia before her kidnapping and is the one who found Dog and Samson.
Painwheel pt.2
Design The blades attached to Painwheel's back bear a slight resemblance a Japanese shuriken throwing star, although their original design was closer to her namesake, the pinwheel. When Painwheel is being introduced to her new class (in Filia's ending), she is seen carrying a cello case. It's been confirmed that the removable parts of Painwheel's Buer Drive are kept in here.
Painwheel pt.3
Backstory Once a normal schoolgirl named Carol, Painwheel was kidnapped by Valentine and delivered to the Anti-Skullgirls Labs’ secretive Lab Zero. There she was implanted with the synthetic Buer Drive and Gae Bolga parasites and infused with experimental Skullgirl blood, transforming her into the monster she is today. Violent and unstable as a result of these experiments, as a precaution she’s mentally controlled by Lab Zero’s powerful psychic director, Brain Drain. Fueled by rage, she draws her power from her pain and fury. Despite that, the soul of that scared young girl still lives on inside this monstrous body, desperately fighting off the onslaught of voices that would control her.[3] Once a normal schoolgirl named Carol, Painwheel lived in Maplecrest with her parents. She was friends with Filia despite her Medici heritage and she's the one who found Dog and Samson. At some later point in time she was found in a Medici slave camp along with no man's land refugees, it is currently unknown what happened between her normal life and her appearance there but its known Filia feels responsible for what happened (though it's also not known how responsible she actually is). When The Last Hope rescue the refugees Valentine comes across Painwheel, and, finding her blood suitable for their next experiment, takes her back to Lab 0 under Brain Drain's orders with the intent to turn her into an anti-Skullgirl weapon. After Valentine delivers Painwheel to Lab Zero, she is implanted with the synthetic Buer Drive and Gae Bolga parasites and infused with experimental Skullgirl blood, transforming her into her current state. She was also implanted with some kind of mind control device. Soon after she was transformed and had her newfound abilities tested by Lab 0, she was sent by Valentine to deal with a Medici operation (who apparently had a recent run-in with Big Band). Painwheel seems to recognize the name "Medici", but carries out her mission. Afterward, she tells Valentine th

Fueled by rage, she draws her power from her pain and fury, she has two synthetic parasites she can use: her Buer Drive to fly and use as an aditional limb and Gae Bolga which allows her to eject spikes from her body. She can also contort her body in unnatural ways to fight more effectively. She also has an electic theme throughout her different attacks which may be due to her skullgirl connection (It's worth noting Umbrella has an electric themed attack and she also has a connection to the skullgirl). Despite her using her rage to fight and other characters encouraging her to do so the devs have stated that she'd be stronger if she "calmed her heart."
Valentine
Personality
As her bio suggests, very little is truly known about Valentine apart from her service as a Last Hope operative and servant of the Skullgirl. Her motive to join the Skullgirl was chiefly out of self-preservation, but also in the hopes of researching the powers that control the Skull Heart behind enemy lines. Despite taking orders from higher powers, Valentine's actions are largely influenced by her own personal agenda.
Valentine pt.2
What precious little that is known about Valentine is evidenced in her story mode and combat dialogue. She often comes across as impersonal and condescending, with little emotional fluctuation. She does not hesitate to resort to murder and, aside from feeling slight guilt toward Painwheel, has no real morality. An interview with Alex Ahad states that despite her demeanor Valentine "acts like a jerk" to conceal her good intent and emotions.[4] It should be noted that in her origin story from Skullgirls Mobile she is very capable of showing genuine concern for those around her such as the Last Hope, the No Man's Land survivors/refugees which included a mutilated Patricia, and Carol before she became Painwheel, going as far as to ask Brain Drain for another, more suitable candidate. During the Last Hope’s mission to rescue a group of child refugees Valentine goes against Christmas' orders and puts her mission on hold in favor of applying immediate medical attention to those in need. Christmas even acknowledges Valentine's act of kindness, calling her generous, seemingly overlooking her insubordination in favor of this. As mentioned prior Valentine had a tendency to go against orders from her superiors to pursue what she feels is right. Patty refers to Valentine as an overachiever with a big ego. Easter, though jokingly, backs this claim up. Valentine has shown a fondness for medical science and learning, and often refers to her own actions as parts of "experiments" or "research". This is especially apparent when she encounters Ms. Fortune, and becomes intrigued to Ms. Fortune's paradoxical existence to the point of attacking her with the intent of cutting her open. Combat dialogue between Valentine and Parasoul hint that the two knew each other in the past (though this is never elaborated in any story mode). She hates Brain Drain so much that she became an assassin to kill him. She also seems to despise the Medici Mafia and anything related to them mainly because of th
Valentine pt.3
Backstory
Valentine had a rough childhood and entered to the labs early on, for training purposes. Valentine lost her eye in the incident that destroyed Lab 7. The cross in her remaining eye is a result from the lab's experimental drug test, as the team were not only in charge of the tests but test subjects themselves. The scar on the lips of Valentine are not from the Attack on Lab 7, but a different event not yet determined. Valentine’s “superhuman” feats can be attributed to her ninja skills, and she is able to exceed certain human limits due to Lab 7’s modifications. Her counter animation is most likely an illusion or a body double. Valentine used to be second-in-command of the Last Hope before the rest of the group were wiped out; prior to this incident Christmas was the leader. Valentine got along with the Last Hope members, getting along with Hallow the best. She also had a small rivalry with Christmas.
Double
Personality Double is an enigmatic character who lacks a distinct motive or will that most of the cast have and rarely emotes. She mostly maintains a stoic demeanor when conversing with someone. However, she has shown bouts of pure rage and hatred when it comes to characters like Squigly (Squigly refuses to obey Marie's orders) and Eliza (Eliza killed Aeon and Venus). Double's encounter with Eliza implies that she has an unspecified connection to Queen Lamia, such as being her avatar or 'shadow'. She has been shown to be a manipulative figure who will do anything to further her agenda and create Skullgirls. Even if she follows their orders, Double will not hesitate to eliminate a Skullgirl should they put The Trinity's plans to a standstill.
Double pt.2
Design
One of Double's previous designs. As a shapeshifter Double has taken on different designs even early on. Initially she was conceptualized as a very nondescript and hunched over humanoid figure. She seems to have still been able to shapeshift in this era of her design as in one piece of concept art she is seen taking on a form where she resembled Filia, except Samson's head was where Filia's should be and Filia's was on the back of the skull and appeared very emaciated. If you look closely the Filia mimic design has some of the distinct traits of the humanoid figure's design as she has the same dots on the forehead and the same hairstyle in the middle section of the head. At another point, she was a jumble of distorted pieces from other characters wearing a crown. The crown has a cross on it and may have served as inspiration for her current design having a crown-like head and her being part of a religious affiliation but this could also be coincidental. The “jumbled” design seems to be closer to when the game was starting or going to be made as you can see a shadow of Filia that looks similar, if not exactly, like her current sprite but the part that is meant to represent Ms. Fortune shows her old design. It also shows characteristics of Squigly/Leviathan and Umbrella/Hungern which also implicates it was made at the time when they were still planned to be part of the original main cast.
Squigly
Personality
Squigly is graceful, calm and well-mannered, but tough and determined to complete her mission. Her past experience with a Skullgirl gives her a unique perspective and a greater understanding of the situation over most. She is particularly close to her parasite Leviathan who has been by her side especially since the day she died and was revived by her mother. If it weren't for him, Squigly wouldn't be able to think for herself as one of the Skullgirl's undead minions. At one point, she was a fan of Eliza's performances before finding out about her true nature in the latter's story.
Design Squigly has faded bluish-purple hair with bangs that is kept to either side of her face and covers one of her eyes. Additionally, she got one of her pigtails. She is seen having lavender blue skin and red eyes. Leviathan goes through Squigly's right ear and out of a hole on the left side of her head. This suggests that the hole on the left side of her head is the bullet hole caused by Black Dahlia at the time of Squigly's murder. This is contradicted however in the illustration depicting Black Dahlia shooting her on what appears to by the right side of her head, not the left; the hole on the left side would most likely be the exit wound. She wears the lower half of a dress ending in frills and a dress like top with a skull covering her chest. Before she essentially became a zombie, she had dark brown hair with both of her pigtails shown. She was also shown having blue eyes and light skin. She wore a yellow dress that reached down to her ankles with white cuffs and collar. A purplish flower was on the front of the collar as well. Lastly, she wore black Mary Jane styled shoes. Abilities & Fighting Style
She and/or Leviathan use long-range attacks to prevent close range combat. However, their mid-air attacks are quite limited and short-ranged and need to be timed correctly. Most of her ground attacks while squatting are very slow and easy to be seen and spotted at any
Get rid of it
Personality
Her personality is not clearly defined as her lines are recycled from Filia's and she does not speak for most of her Story Mode, other than to express her desire to "become" Filia (note that her story mode is a joke story mode and shouldn't be taken as canon in any way). It is possible that she has some masochistic inclinations as Fukua is one of the two characters in the game (The other being Black Dahlia) who is shown smiling in her Design Her appearance is nearly identical to that of Filia's since she is a direct clone of her, but is of a completely different color palette as to differentiate between them. As such, she also has her own version of Samson named Shamone. Her shirt and shoes are black, and her hair is dark green with her necktie, skirt and thighhighs being the same color except slightly less saturated in intensity. She also wears light blue-ish green lipstick and hot pink eye shadow. Her color scheme is based on a glitch found in several games wherein characters turned green abnormally; the glitch tending to occur more often on older game systems. Direct inspirations for Fukua’s coloration include Glitch Sonic from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and a glitch from the first Mortal Kombat game where all characters would turn green on the character select screen temporarily.[3] Fukua's eye color is inconstant in her portrayals. Her action shot has green eyes in the character select screen, and black eyes during her reveal trailer. In gameplay, her eyes appear dark greenish-brown when highlighted in the character select screen and during the fight. The same can be said for the shading on her nose, which while shown to be her normal skin color in her action shot, appears a light color during gameplay. Originally her character select icon had a slightly tanned nose, but this has since been changed to be light like during gameplay. In really early art of the character an earlier version of Fukua can be seen. She looks the same as now except she has th
Eliza
Personality
Eliza is a diva who loves to be the center of attention. Despite running a charity blood drive, she has a greedy side in which she wants to keep the blood all to herself to retain her beauty. Although she prefers to sing on the stage over searching for the Skullgirl, she starts to enjoy the challenge of the hunt when something catches her eye along the way. She is shown to be ruthless to those who oppose her. For example, she killed Cerebella after she refused to back down upon realizing Eliza's true intentions. Eliza and Sekhmet spend many years with one another to the point where their personalities are synchronized and they can act as one being. Eliza also has a god complex that is supported by her dislike of Trinitism and wanting to be the ruler of the world. Because of the chaos and misdeeds she has done in the past, she was hated by Samson, Leviathan, and even Double. While malicious, she is shown to dislike the prejudice against parasites due to being bound to her own skeletal parasite, Sekhmet. Her adamance of wanting Samson and Leviathan to share her ideal of Theons taking power once more also suggests she considers this prejudice unjust, deeming them deserving of a higher social order. When fighting as Sekhmet, she is very aggressive, sadistic, and feral. Despite those qualities, she does not exhibit any type of abuse towards her servants Albus and Horace. Eliza is fond of cats. This is likely a reference to how the Ancient Egyptians idolized cats in respect to Bastet, the cat goddess of protection.
Design The ribbon wrapped around Eliza's body forms the shape of an Ankh, an Egyptian symbol commonly associated with "eternal life". Abilities & Fighting Style
Eliza's main focus of her fighting style is her blood. She uses the malleability of the blood to turn various body parts into different creatures based off of Egyptian mythology. She also uses her microphone weapon, the Staff of Ra, to deliver damage. Her two bodyguards, Albus and Horac
Robo-Fortune
Background Robo-Fortune is a robot created by Brain Drain after he received a letter from Valentine that mentioned how cool she thought Ms. Fortune is. Although she displays comical behavior on a regular basis, she wont hesitate to use deadly force to get her way and is fairly pragmatic owing to her robot nature. Design Robo-Fortune is a likeness of Ms. Fortune in both persona and appearance. Her head and other body parts are segmented in a way where they can be easily removed and reattached. Robo-Fortune's eyes shine like headlights in front of her, casting light onto her opponent as well as the stage. The barcode-like exclamation points on her forehead also seem to change in some of her sprites and portraits, like changing to "!?!?" when she gets hit, and also to a stylized interpretation of piano keys in her "keyboard" portrait.
Abilities & Fighting Style
As a robot, Robo-Fortune has many different utilities that are used to eliminate her opponents. They range from laser cannons, extendable and rotatable limbs from her body and a giant chainsaw. She is also very mobile, being able to move fast on the ground and fly. She can also eject her head from body and use it in a variety of attacks, producing a new one to fill its place. Like Ms. Fortune she can detach her limbs and use them as weapons. She seems to contain theonite within her and uses it to make damaging beams of light.
