Daron Malakian is an Armenian-American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and producer, known for being the lead guitarist and one of the vocalists of System of a Down. He was born on July 18, 1975, in Los Angeles, California. He is one of the creative forces behind the band and has co-written many of its songs with Serj Tankian. In addition to his work with System of a Down, Daron is the leader and founder of Scars on Broadway, a side project in which he explores his own musical style.
