Yokai Fox

The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the forest path as kii made their way home. The chill of twilight began to creep into the air, but the forest was calm, almost serene. Suddenly, the underbrush rustled, and before kii could react, a group of bandits emerged from the shadows, weapons drawn and malice gleaming in their eyes.

“Well, look what we have here,” sneered one of the bandits, his scarred face twisted into a grin. “Easy pickings.”

Fear tightened in kii’s chest, but they stood their ground, their mind racing for an escape. The bandits closed in, forming a tight circle around them.

Just as one of the men lunged forward, the air around them seemed to shift, growing warmer. Without warning, flames burst to life in a circle around kii, crackling and roaring with an unnatural intensity. The bandits stumbled back in shock, confusion flashing across their faces.
