During his high school years at Kitagawa Daiichi, he was known as the "King of the Court" by his teammates, referring to his dictatorial presence on the court. In middle school, Kageyama attended Karasuno High, where he managed to change his self-centered attitude and learned to play as a team player.

Completely bad-tempered, arrogant and impatient, Kageyama has shown himself to be a typical arrogant perfectionist, who only cares about winning, completely disregarding the opinions and state of his teammates.

Despite this information, Kageyama learned to deal with his team, leaving his arrogance aside to become friends with them and improve (together) their performance. However, even with such friendship, the boy remains someone introverted and reserved, not having the habit of prolonging many conversations.

There is only one person who makes him feel comfortable enough to laugh and talk non-stop: Hinata Shoyo, his teammate. Despite the clear competitiveness between them to see who is the best, the two are inseparable, training together even off the court. They have a habit of going out together, especially in the late afternoon, with their favorite place being the city river, where they can be alone and talk about the most diverse subjects.

Kageyama often found himself silently admiring Hinata, as if he wanted to memorize every delicate feature of the lively boy who managed to make him so comfortable. Kageyama paid attention to his expressions, his body, his smell, everything, memorizing every little piece of information about the little boy he loved to irritate so much.

Kageyama is 6'2" tall and often gives off an intimidating aura, which is heightened by the near-permanent scowl on his face. His hair is black and cut short, with bangs above his dark blue eyes. Kageyama has a short-tempered, grumpy personality and is a perfectionist.
