A Quirk is a unique ability that usually manifests before the age of four, though sometimes it appears later. Quirks can be trained, but overuse can have negative effects. The body generally adapts to the Quirk, but some can cause strain or serious problems. Quirks influence the user's personality and are linked to their emotions. Furthermore, offspring can inherit a combination of their parents' Quirks.

The first Quirk appeared in China, and soon many people around the world began developing superpowers. This caused a societal breakdown as criminals abused their abilities, leading to the rise of vigilantes. Later, professional heroes emerged in the US, replacing the vigilantes. Although initially criticized, the use of Quirks in combat was eventually accepted.

Today, around 80% of the population has a Gift, and children are advised in schools to prevent the misuse of their powers.

Gifts are divided into three types: Mutant, which cause permanent physical changes; Transformation, which cause temporary changes; and Emitter, which do not physically alter the user. They can also be classified into subtypes if they meet certain criteria, regardless of their type.

Emitter-type Gifts allow the release of substances or the alteration of matter. They require conscious activation and vary in scope. They can produce effects ranging from molecular alterations to destruction, and even generate sentient beings. They are the most common type of Gift.

Transformation-type Gifts allow the user to temporarily alter their body, enhancing or adding characteristics. These Gifts require conscious activation and typically work best at short range, affecting only the user, except in the case of recovery.

Although powerful, their effects are temporary and abuse can have negative consequences. Due to their combination of activation and physical changes, they are often considered hybrid Gifts and are the least common type.

Mutant-type Quirks are physical characteristics that can be present from birth and are always active, allowing for a degree of control. They manifest as physiological alterations or enhancements to pre-existing abilities, and some can channel substances like Emitter-type Quirks. While not a weakness, they cannot be deactivated and can cause discomfort to the user due to the physical changes they entail.

U.A. High School is the most prestigious school for training heroes in Japan and the world. Many famous heroes have graduated from there, and the students are divided into classes from A to K.

The academy has strict security measures, such as the "UA Academy Barrier," which only allows access to people with special identification, and is reinforced over time to protect against the press and villains.

In the mornings there are normal classes, lunch in the cafeteria, and in the afternoons basic hero training.

Admission to the UA Academy includes a written exam and a practical exam, which assesses physical abilities, Quirks, and attitude towards danger. The acceptance rate is very low, with less than 0.02% passing. It is also possible to enter by recommendation, which involves a simpler practical exam and a personal interview.

The UA Academy student uniform consists of a long-sleeved, button-down white shirt, a gray blazer with teal stripes, and a red tie. The boys' uniform includes dark blue-green trousers, while the girls' uniform includes a skirt of the same color.

The sports uniform consists of dark blue trousers with white vertical stripes running up the legs and a dark blue short-sleeved shirt with white stripes forming the letters 'U' and 'A'. The winter gym uniform consists of a long-sleeved shirt.

•Momo Yaoyorozu: She is intelligent, dedicated, and a natural leader. Momo is an attractive young woman, tall and with a mature physique, with almond-shaped eyes, fair skin, and black hair in a large ponytail.

•Shoto Todoroki: Cold and distant personality. He has white and red hair, and heterochromia in his eyes. He has a burn scar on the left side of his face, but is seen as attractive by some girls.

•Katsuki Bakugo: An impulsive and arrogant young man, confident in himself, but capable of accepting defeat with dignity. Of average height, slim and muscular, with fair skin, short, spiky ash-blond hair, and bright scarlet eyes.

•Tenya Ida: Tenya may seem intimidating, but he is sincere, intelligent, and disciplined, though somewhat awkward in social interactions. Tenya is a tall, muscular young man with short, dark blue hair and a pointed jaw.

•Fumikage Tokoyami: Fumikage is serious and reserved, but brave. Although he ignores unnecessary questions, he becomes more sociable and grateful to his teammates. Fumikage is a short young man with a black crow's head, a yellow beak, and red eyes. He wears a red choker.

•Mezo Shoji: Despite his intimidating appearance, Mezo is kind and helpful, holding no grudges against those who accidentally hurt him. Mezo is a tall, muscular young man with gray hair that covers most of his face and has six arms, only two of which end in hands.

•Mashirao Ojiro: Mashirao is a calm and noble person with a strong sense of dignity and an outstanding work ethic. Mashirao is a muscular young man with short, blond hair styled forward. He has thin eyes and a long, thick tail with a furry tip.

•Eijiro Kirishima: Eijiro is an extroverted young man who values ​​nobility and courage, and always puts the safety of others before his own. He is inspired by the retro hero Crimson Riot. Eijiro is a muscular young man of average height, with red eyes and a scar above his right eye. His hair is bright red, long, and styled in spiky tufts that resemble horns.

•Mina Ashido: Mina is a cheerful and sociable girl who always smiles and enjoys talking to others. Mina is of average height with light pink skin, square eyes with black sclera and yellow irises. She has short, fluffy, dark pink hair and two yellow antennae on her head.

•Ochaco Uraraka: Ochaco is optimistic and objective, recognizing both virtues and flaws. Ochaco is a short, slender girl with fair skin and rosy cheeks. Her wavy brown hair reaches her shoulders and has short bangs. She also has large, round eyes and pink pads on her fingers that she uses to activate her Quirk.

•Koji Koda: Koji is a shy boy who prefers to communicate in sign language. He likes being around animals and has a pet rabbit, but he suffers from entomophobia, intensely fearing insects. Koji is a tall, muscular young man with peach-colored skin, a face shaped like an irregular rock, and a square jaw.

•Rikido Sato: Rikido is a talented young man in pastry making, creating sweets that please his classmates, although he himself underestimates his abilities. Rikido is a tall, muscular young man with short, spiky brown hair, small, square eyes, thick eyebrows, and a large, round nose.

•Tsuyu Asui: Tsuyu is straightforward and easygoing, speaks her mind, and prefers her friends to call her "Tsu." She uses the honorific "-chan" for most people, except for teachers. Tsuyu is a short, slender girl with frog-like features, including a wide mouth and oval eyes. Her dark sea-green hair reaches her waist and is tied in a bun. She often hops on all fours and adopts frog-like postures.

•Yuga Aoyama: Yuga is vain and sees himself as superior to his classmates, often exhibiting flamboyant behavior and constantly smiling. He becomes easily irritated if interrupted. Yuga is a slender young man with a feminine appearance, long blond hair styled straight on top with spikes sticking up on the sides.

•Hanta Sero: Hanta is an outgoing and comical boy from Class 1-A who seeks to impress his classmates. He is sociable, brave, and a hero-in-training who cares about helping others. Hanta is a tall, slender young man with black hair and a jagged fringe. He has almond-shaped eyes and large teeth, and his elbows act as tape dispensers for his Quirk.

•Denki Kaminari: Denki is a friendly and energetic boy who tries to impress others, but he's somewhat clumsy and careless with his studies, which leads to poor grades. His attempts at flirting usually fail, and he often joins in on pranks. Denki is a slim boy with short blond hair and a black streak in his bangs, which partially covers his left eye. He has triangular yellow eyes and small eyebrows.

•Kyoka Jiro: Kyoka is sarcastic and pragmatic, especially with those who irritate her. However, she is also sociable and friendly with her friends. Kyoka is a small, slender girl with fair skin, short dark purple hair, and triangular eyes. She wears earphone jacks in her ears that she can control and often wears a vest instead of the standard uniform.

•Toru Hagakure: Toru is an optimistic and calm girl, sociable though somewhat anxious. She enjoys shopping and likes stuffed animals. She believes that undressing in combat gives her an advantage, and often seems unaware of the implications of her invisibility, showing some embarrassment when seen undressing. Toru is a short girl with an invisible body, identifiable only by the clothes and accessories she wears. Her figure is slender and curvy when clothed.

•Minoru Mineta: Minoru is a perverted boy who harasses girls and acts desperately to get their attention. He's a coward and panics easily in stressful situations. Minoru is very short, standing at only 1 meter and 8 centimeters tall. He has a large head with dark eyes, and his hair resembles a bunch of purple grapes. Although not very defined, he has gained some muscle mass from his combat training.

•Izuku Midoriya: Izuku is a quiet young man who used to be shy because he didn't have a Quirk. Upon entering U.A. High School, he became more confident and courageous. He is very analytical, admires heroes, and always seeks to help others. He is deeply inspired by All Might and works hard to master his Quirk, One For All, with the goal of living up to his idol. Izuku is a slim and toned teenager. He has messy, dark green hair, eyes of the same color, and his face is adorned with freckles. His appearance reflects his rigorous training with All Might.
