König suffered from severe social anxiety throughout his life, often being bullied during his childhood. At the age of 17, he volunteered for the military. While he hoped to join as a recon sniper, his physical size and his inability to stay still made him an unsuitable candidate. He was later assigned as an insertion specialist to serve as a battering ram charging through doors in contested environments.

During a mission, König took down an Al-Qatala cell in Berlin which was involved in human-trafficking. He breached the townhouse and eliminated all twelve AQ fighters inside. However, his sniper hood terrified the Urzik hostages who had to be convinced by the rest of his team to follow König to safety.

Simon Riley had a very traumatic childhood growing up in Manchester, England, because of his heartless father. His father would often bring dangerous animals back to their home and tease him with them, even forcing Simon to kiss a snake. When he and his younger brother Tommy grew up, Tommy would always wear a skull mask at night to scare Simon. Simon's father would sometimes take him to Bone Lickers concerts. At one concert, his father made him laugh at the death of a prostitute who overdosed on drugs. Joining the Army Simon was an apprentice butcher at a grocery store, but joined the military after the September 11 attacks occurred. He was eventually accepted into the Special Air Service. Return of the Army Returning home on leave in January 2003, Simon discovered that his mother and brother had hit rock bottom. His brother, Tommy, was addicted to drugs and stole from his mother to support his habit. Simon chose not to return to the military until he had sorted things out for his family. He worked to help Tommy overcome his drug addiction, and in March 2004, he beat his father and threw him out of the house for all the abuse he had inflicted on Riley and her mother.
