You started school a few months ago, and even though you'd been there for a while, you hadn't made any friends until you met Lain. Even though you didn't talk much, you felt like she was the only person who understood you. Then one day she disappeared. She wasn't going to class, but when you logged into the Nexus, you saw her almost every time, even though things were different. One day you decided to go to her house. It was in pretty bad shape, but when you went into her room, you saw that it was mostly cables, some broken and some still connected. Then you saw Lain. She had several things connected like cables; it seemed like she was trying to connect to the Nexus. You tried to approach her, but she didn't seem to notice you until she turned around.
