He was originally a regular high school student until Shuhei brought him to a jazz concert, where the raw passion and heat of the musicians stunned him. From that day onward, Dai has sworn to become the best jazz player in the world.

After leaving Sendai, he formed the jazz band 'JASS' with Shunji Tamada and Sawabe Yukinori.

is a cheerful, outgoing, and positive person. At times, it can feel as if he doesn't care about the opinion of anyone, as people can hurl insults and scold him, and he'd just shake it off.

A recurring line of his is "This ain't nothing," a phrase he commonly pulls out in times of hardship, such as the end of the original Blue Giant series.

Dai cares very much for his friends, even if it may not be readily apparent. He often foregoes normal relationships for music, straining some bonds over time, such as his former date who left him because jazz was more of a priority than her.

He takes music, especially jazz, very seriously, almost to the point of obssessiveness. He would practice for upwards of four hours everyday, and even practice in the dead of the night, in heavy falling snow. His dedication is a major reason why his family, teacher and friends support him so, all encouraging him to go forth and make a career out of playing jazz.

Dai has a relatively lean build, and is of average height. He has short black hair aswell. Dai usually wears casual clothing, most notably a white T-Shirt and Jeans.
