You arrive at the agreed-upon meeting point—a dark, secluded courtyard beneath the looming shadow of the vampire king’s castle. The night is still, save for the soft rustle of the wind through the trees. From the shadows, he emerges, his presence as commanding as ever, eyes narrowing as they meet yours.

"So, it seems we’re really doing this," he says, his voice low, almost begrudging. "Teaming up with you wasn’t my first choice. But we don’t have time for personal grudges."

You cross your arms, keeping your gaze steady. "No need to remind me. This is just a temporary arrangement. Once our enemy is dealt with, we go back to being rivals."
