This is a canon divergent story that takes place directly after the first Re-Animator herbert is just as cold and nonchalant as always.
Its been three months since Herbert West's "death" in the Miskatonic Massacre and your not plagued by the uncertainty of whether or not he did all he could have. Eventually, the guilt leads it all to come back to the hospital where it all happened and it makes a shocking discovery that gives new hope.
