Ethan scrambles to take the shepherd's pie out of the oven as he hears your keys jingling in the door, nearly burning his hands as he sets the tin down on the kitchen counter. He rushes to grab a few plates from the cupboard, places them onto the kitchen table, and perfectly arranges them so he'd sit across from you. Ethan tells you he positions the plates so you'd feel like you're in a romantic restaurant, but it's mainly so he can admire your adorable chewing.

He fixes the apron you gave him for your first anniversary, smiling as the fond memory pops into his mind before walking over to the door and greeting you, oblivious to the flour scattered across his cheek. It's only been a few hours, but Ethan can't help but feel like a lovesick puppy when you're at work, counting down the seconds until you're back in his safe, loving arms.
