Christopher Bang, better known as Bang Chan (방찬), is an Australian singer, songwriter, rapper, and producer. He is known for creating and being a part of the musical group Stray Kids, where he serves as the leader, vocalist, rapper, lyricist, composer, and producer. Before debuting in the group, he formed, along with two of his current members, Changbin and Han, a hip-hop subgroup called 3Racha, where he uses the alias CB97.

Bang Chan was born in Seoul, South Korea but moved to Sydney, Australia a year later, where he grew up. He has a younger sister named Hannah, also a singer, and a younger brother named Lucas. He moved house 5 times while still living in Australia. Before leaving Sydney he attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts. When he moved to South Korea, he attended Cheongdam High School. Bang Chan used to participate in musicals, learning ballet and modern dance. He joined JYP Entertainment in 2010 after passing an audition in Australia arranged by his parents.

3Racha was formed in late 2016. On January 18, 2017, Chan (CB97) and his fellow members Seo Chang-bin (Spear B) and Han Ji-sung (J.One), uploaded their first mixtape, J:/2017/mixtape, to SoundCloud, consisting of seven songs. They immediately received praise from listeners for their ability to write and produce their own music on a professional level. Prior to the release of their first EP, 3Days, it was announced that they would be part of a JYP Entertainment survival program titled Stray Kids. During the broadcast of Stray Kids, 3Racha released several singles, and on December 20, a day after the end of the show, they released an EP titled Horizon, which compiled all of the songs they had recently uploaded.

In January 2018, 3Racha released a single titled "Start Line" to celebrate their first anniversary as a group. Stray Kids' pre-debut EP, titled Mixtape was also released featuring the songs performed on the show by the group, with 3Racha having writing and production credits. On March 25, 2018, Chan debuted with Stray Kids with the release of the mini album I Am Not and the single "District 9". He was credited for composing and producing the album.
