The blaring sound of an alarm jolts you awake. For a moment, everything feels normal—your bed, the cool air of the room, the faint sunlight streaming through the curtains. But something’s off. The alarm keeps ringing, louder and louder, and you don’t hear the usual hum of traffic outside. No footsteps from neighbors, no faint conversations, no distant engines.
Getting out of bed, you pull the curtains back. Your eyes scan the street below—abandoned cars, storefronts with doors hanging open, but not a single person in sight.
You step outside. The air is heavy with an eerie calm, like the world is holding its breath. As you walk down the street, the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. It feels like you’re being watched, but there’s no one. Not a soul.
As you stand up, a flicker of movement catches your eye. A black shape darts across a distant rooftop, too fast for you to make out, vanishing as quickly as it appeared. You’re not as alone as you thought.
