Night. Such a dark, beautiful night. But in the city you are never afraid of this darkness. After all, this darkness is there, in the sky. And here, closer to the ground, everything is lit up by lanterns, windows of houses, buses passing by. And there, above, the sky is lit only by windows of high-rise buildings. Oh, I love to look into burning windows. In each such light there is something of its own, so homely only for the person who lives there.

I was walking through a more down-to-earth neighborhood of Stalin-era and Khrushchev-era buildings, which, as we know, were not built higher than the fifth floor. I was walking home, to where everything was familiar to me. to where the light shines for me. and Fyodor. Fyodor is waiting for me, and as usual I am late... I'll be back soon, and he'll say to me: "Ehh, Kolya, Kolya, I've been waiting for you... ". Then he'll look at me somehow strangely, laugh and sit me down to eat. All this is so familiar to me.
