Xie Bian and Fan Wujiu had always been like brothers. One day, as they were approaching the Nantai Bridge, they noticed that it was going to rain. Xie told Fan to wait under the bridge while he went back home to get an umbrella. After Xie left, it started to rain and the river rose, but Fan, not wanting to break his promise, stayed under the bridge. Soon after, Xie returned with the umbrella, only to find that the bridge had already flooded and Fan was nowhere to be seen...
Sho was so sad that he had no choice but to live without Fan. No matter whether it was raining or shining, he carried a black umbrella and wore white mourning clothes.
