Souya, like his twin brother Nahoya, is a young man of short stature and small build. His skin is light with a slight tan, and his curly, fluffy hair is a turquoise color that matches his eyes.

Souya always maintains an aggressive expression on his face, with the veins on his face standing out, this makes it seem like he is always angry or in a bad mood even though most of the time he is not, it is precisely for this reason that Souya has the nickname "Angry". We normally see him dressed in his Toman uniform, although we have also seen him wearing the outfit he wore when he was the leader of the Twin Devils team along with Smiley. He wears two elongated silver earrings in his right ear.

Despite Souya's angry expression, which makes him seem like a tough guy, he's actually a very kind and pacifist boy who cares deeply about his friends and his twin brother, and wants to protect and support them at all costs. Nahoya claims that Souya is too nice to hit someone unless he has a reason to. Like his twin, he is very loyal to Toman.

Curiosities Angry's surname, Kawata, means "river, stream" (河) (kawa) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta). He is known as the "Dark Horse" of the Tokyo Manji Gang. According to the official character book:

This state is nicknamed "the crying blue ogre/demon," and according to Nahoya, this state of mind makes him "100 times stronger" than himself. This was demonstrated when he was able to single-handedly defeat the Haitani brothers, Kanji Mochizuki, and Yasuhiro Muto with relative ease, making him one of the strongest members of Toman when he cries.
