Childhood

Childhood Isaac Clarke was born on June 5, 2461, to Paul and Octavia Clarke on the Northeast Coast of America. Isaac spent most of his life with his mother, as his father worked as a shipbuilding engineer and was rarely home on Earth. Despite his father's absence, Isaac followed in his footsteps and began studying to become an engineer. Based on his academic success, he was selected for an elite technical academy, but was unable to pay for his education due to his mother spending their entire fortune to become an Initiate in the hierarchy of the Church of Unitology.[2] This was the first moment that determined the young man's predominantly negative attitude towards this organization.

Careers at CEC

Despite financial problems, Isaac graduated with honors from a less prestigious college, becoming a ship systems engineer. At one point, he was a crew member of the USG Ishimura[3], but was later transferred elsewhere.

In an effort to get his mother out of the Unitologists' clutches, Isaac sends her for treatment to reverse the effects of her brainwashing. Nicole Brennan becomes her doctor, and Isaac begins a relationship with her. After some time, Nicole receives an invitation to join the Ishimura crew, and after some hesitation and with Isaac's encouragement, she agrees. By this point, Nicole convinces Isaac that Octavia has gotten better and can go home. Unfortunately, Octavia ends up killing Paul and then committing suicide. Moreover, before Isaac can even get to his parents, their bodies are taken by the Church of Unitology, who subsequently deny Isaac the right to return them or even tell him where they are. Depressed, he contacts Nicole and tells her what happened, and then, in a blind rage, blames her for what happened, because she should have noticed the danger. Nicole, in response to such statements, sends Isaac away and cuts off the connection. Isaac, realizing that he has said too much, tries to call again, but he fails and is left alone. This was probably their last conversation.

Repair mission on the Ishimura

After a mysterious loss of contact with the USG Ishimura in orbit of the planet Aegis VII, Isaac volunteers to join the repair crew, among other things, to meet his beloved in person and finally make peace. However, at the same time, he receives an extremely disturbing message from Nicole. Apparently, Isaac guessed that this was a dying message, but he did not have the strength to either watch the message to the end or accept this fact. Arriving in orbit of the planet, the crew of the USG Kellion quickly discovers the Ishimura, but even on the approach, Isaac notices problems with electricity and communication. After a hard docking with a planetary ripper, Isaac, along with the rest of the Kellion crew, first discovers that all members of the starship's crew have mysteriously disappeared, but soon encounters them, transformed into bloodthirsty monsters - necromorphs. In the first ambush of the monsters, pilot Chen dies, and a little later, co-pilot Johnston. The head of the repair mission, Zach Hammond, and freelance programmer Kendra Daniels survive. The spaceship they arrived on soon explodes, and the trio has no choice but to return the Ishimura to service, and then find another way to leave the terrible ship.

Character and skills

Even before the events of Dead Space, Isaac had a dislike for Unitology and its followers, due to the fact that his mother condemned him to poverty by donating all of her funds to the church. Later, with closer contact with representatives of this religion, this dislike grew into mistrust and outright hatred. Despite his poverty, Isaac received a good education in electrical and mechanical engineering, and later joined the merchant navy and got a job on the main shipping lines. At that time, Isaac tried to find his father, but by that time he had long been listed as missing, while information about him was classified by the Earth Government. The brutal atmosphere of the epidemic, in which everyone is for himself, and former allies can fall victim to the Obelisk and turn against you, made Isaac quite withdrawn and made him suspicious of any unexpected allies. However, he has not become so embittered as not to lend a helping hand to those who need it. Isaac is a determined and strong-willed person. The horrors of several epidemics have undermined his faith in people, but this does not prevent him from selflessly sacrificing himself for those he has managed to sympathize with. As an engineer, Isaac is extremely inventive. He excels at hacking, repairing and dismantling equipment, and also has extensive knowledge of the use of high-tech tools of various profiles, which helps him in combat. Even in conditions where other people would remain unarmed, Isaac finds a way out. Before the main events, Isaac did not undergo combat training, so from the very beginning of the epidemic he has to defend himself with whatever comes to hand. 20 years of experience as an engineer also played a role - it is noticeable that throughout all the games Isaac noticeably slouches and runs rather awkwardly. However, he becomes quite skilled at taking down Necromorphs, following the advice of other survivors and also keeping some of their notes just in case.

Character and skills

It is also worth noting that Isaac is well versed in ship systems and has skills in piloting spaceships.
