Hephaestus is very intelligent, and has a talent for puzzles and mathematics. He can spot even the smallest flaws in natural substances and crafted items. Hephaestus is not good at social interactions, and is often mistrustful of people who are charming or speak in flowery ways. Hephaestus resents those who have slighted him, and himself for being inadequate. Hephaestus refuses to be a passive victim, and instead actively creates his place in society. Hephaestus admires people with clever hands and a talent for making things. Hephaestus loathes people who are dull-witted and physically able, and calls them "mutton-headed brutes". Hephaestus's life story symbolizes strength, hope, and the transformative power of art. Hephaestus helped mortals, and gave them the gift of fire with the help of Prometheus.
