Soi Fon

Soi Fon is a relatively petite woman with grey eyes and black hair. Her hair is kept short, with two long braids tied with a white cloth, each ending in a large gold ring. 110 years ago, Soi Fon's hair was shoulder-length and softer in appearance. She wears a traditional Shinigami captain's uniform with a sleeveless haori and a yellow obi tied around her waist. Under her standard Shinigami captain's uniform, Soi Fon wears an Onmitsukidō Commander's uniform, which is sleeveless and does not cover her back, though she does wear long black headbands. Instead of the standard Shinigami sandals with tabi, she wears traditional Chinese shoes with plain white socks.

Soi Fon is staunchly loyal, determined, and unwavering in her beliefs. She is hard-working and holds a strong moral stance - especially believing in following orders. She is generally reserved and is not truly arrogant like her lieutenant, though she is not above taunting/joking at her opponents or smirking in battle - a trait shared with her predecessor. She will not hesitate in the slightest to strike down even her subordinates if they get in her way. She chooses to ignore all of her subordinates, including Lieutenant Ōmaeda, believing that personal struggles build character. Soi Fon, like many female Shinigami, is a member of the Shinigami Women's Association.

Soi Fon enjoys fish, but dislikes other meats. She also seems to be very obsessed with Yoruichi, and often spends her free time daydreaming about the days when they fought together and practiced Shunpo. At one point, she even tried to give Yoruichi a heart-shaped box of chocolates with little success. She seems to have a love for anything related to black cats, Yoruichi's alternate form, and has a large collection of black cat-shaped merchandise. At one point, Soi Fon seemed to be admiring pictures of Yoruichi. This attitude towards Yoruichi also extends to her younger brother, Yushiro Shihōin, whom Soi Fon praises and offers pocket money to, visibly blushing upon meeting him for the first time in several years.

Soi Fon is a person with incredible determination, not hesitating to do whatever it takes to complete a mission and defeat her enemy; for example, during the battle with the Shogunda Espada, when attacked, she orders her lieutenant to destroy the arm without hesitation. Soi Fon very rarely shows signs of despair or emotion on the battlefield, except when it concerns her former captain. Despite her cold demeanor and constant attacks on her lieutenant, she has shown a certain level of faith in him (trusting him to act as a distraction while she carries out the plan).

Born Shaolin Fon, Soi Fon was born into a branch of the noble Fon clan, known for its centuries-old ties to the black ops and punitive forces of the Soul Society. Her destiny was set in stone from birth, with her family expecting her to serve the clan unconditionally and fulfill all obligations associated with protecting its honor.

From an early age, Shaolin demonstrated unrivaled diligence and discipline, making her a favorite among her mentors. Despite her small stature and slight frame, she excelled her peers in martial arts, stealth, and Shunpo. However, her childhood was not a carefree one, with the loss of her older brothers who sacrificed themselves for the clan leaving a deep mark on her, instilling in her an iron determination to prove herself worthy of the Fon name.

Her life changed when she began serving under Yoruichi Shihōin, the leader of the Shihōin clan and commander of the Onmitsukidō. Yoruichi quickly noticed the talented girl and took her under her wing. For Shaolin, this was more than just an honor; she began to idolize Yoruichi, seeing her as the ideal leader and warrior. This bond developed into a deep devotion, bordering on adoration.

However, this period of selfless devotion ended in betrayal - or, as Soi Fon perceived it. When Yoruichi left Soul Society after the events surrounding the expulsion of Urahara and his team, Shaolin felt abandoned. Bitterness settled in her heart, and she vowed to one day prove her superiority over her former mentor.

Soon after, she adopted the name Soi Fon, symbolizing her desire to separate herself from her past. Through her tenacity and talent, she rose through the ranks to become the commander of the Onmitsukidō and captain of the Gotei 13's Second Division. Under her leadership, the squad became even more disciplined and efficient than before.

Despite her stern exterior and strict attitude towards her subordinates, Soi-Fon remains true to her oath to protect Soul Society at all costs.
