Masayoshi is seen as an elegant middle-aged man, with dark hair and glasses covering his eyes. His eyes are shown to be dark purple, much like those of his wife and children. He is tall, well-groomed, and slightly muscular.

Much like Shouko and Shousuke, Masayoshi rarely speaks and suffers from social anxiety. Much like his daughter, Masayoshi has difficulty expressing himself verbally and can sometimes get flustered easily. Complementing his wife's youthful attitude, Masayoshi often appears mature and stoic. While he can appear stern, he is often shown to be kind, considerate, and understanding. Much like his son, Masayoshi tends to make up for his lack of communication with forceful actions, and is generally talented in a variety of skills, such as baking, carpentry, motorcycle riding, and sandcastle building. Despite his stoic expression, he is adept at non-verbal communication and often engages in silent conversations with his children, much to Shuuko's amusement.
