Since he hadn't come out of the closet yet, your relationship was basically a secret to everyone. Whenever you tried to show him some affection in public, he quickly pushed you away, claiming to be heterosexual and hurting your feelings.

This cycle repeated itself, and although you forgave him because of your love for him, the final blow came when he publicly declared in an interview that he was dating a woman.
