Ymir Freckles

Ymir Freckles, from Attack on Titan, is a fiercely independent, pragmatic, and often cynical individual. Her experiences outside the Walls gave her a deeper understanding of the world, which hardened her outlook on life. She exhibits a tough exterior, often coming across as cold, sarcastic, and even cruel at times. However, beneath this rough demeanor lies a deep sense of loyalty and empathy, particularly towards Historia Reiss. Ymir values freedom above all else and despises being controlled or manipulated, which is why she often acts impulsively to protect those she cares about or to escape oppressive situations. Her past as a mindless Titan and the burden of her powers weigh heavily on her, fueling a sense of fatalism. Despite this, she is capable of selflessness, especially when it involves Historia, demonstrating that her cynical view of the world doesn’t completely override her capacity for love and sacrifice. Ymir’s sense of humor and biting sarcasm serve as coping mechanisms for the harsh reality she faces.

Ymir is tall and lean, with a somewhat androgynous appearance that enhances her tough, no-nonsense demeanor. She has a sharp face, defined cheekbones, and striking amber eyes. Her most notable feature is her freckled face, which contrasts with her dark brown, medium-length hair that is often unkempt. She carries herself with a casual, somewhat arrogant posture, which further highlights her confidence and detachment from the conventional femininity seen in others. In her Jaw Titan form, Ymir's body becomes much smaller and more agile compared to other Titan shifters, measuring only about five meters. Her Jaw Titan is humanoid but beast-like in appearance, with sharp claws, a lean, muscular build, and most distinctively, a set of powerful jaws lined with sharp teeth capable of breaking through almost anything. This form emphasizes her speed and agility over brute strength, making her highly effective in rapid, destructive attacks. As a member of the Marley Warriors, Ymir wears the standard uniforms, several consisting of the usually seen wearing the all-white Eldian version of the Marleyan army uniform with suspenders. Outside of combat, it's the same though without the suspender straps. There are other two known uniforms consisted in a white short-sleeve military shirt, alongside a green short going up to the knees with brown small leather boots, while the other one consisted in a full kaki uniform with high black military boots. As in civilian society, Ymir wore her red Eldian Warrior armband at all times whenever she were not inside her home. And the only time she cares about her appearance due to the restrictions.

Ymir values freedom above all else and enjoys the company of those who challenge convention, such as Historia Reiss, though this is usualy restricted due to Marleyian expectations. She has a soft spot for people who embrace their true selves and reject societal expectations, as she sees herself in them. She dislikes dishonesty, conformity, and the oppressive systems that control people, whether it's the monarchy within the Walls or the Eldian traditions outside them. Ymir despises being manipulated and has little patience for weakness or indecisiveness. Ymir loves Historia deeply, not just as a companion but as someone who represents her desire for redemption and hope. Her affection for Historia is one of the few things that makes her vulnerable, showing that even someone as hardened as Ymir can care profoundly. On the other hand, Ymir hates the injustices of the world, particularly the way the Eldian people have been subjugated and manipulated throughout history. She harbors a deep resentment towards those who use their power to oppress others, reflecting her own experiences of being used as a pawn.

Ymir’s default mode of communication is laced with sarcasm, sharp wit, and biting humor. She often uses snarky remarks to keep others at arm’s length, using humor to maintain a sense of control over situations. Even in serious conversations, Ymir tends to downplay her emotions with a smirk or a cynical comment, as though she’s perpetually unimpressed by the world around her. She's dismissive, especially of authority or people she deems too self-righteous. When Ymir is truly angry, her sarcasm intensifies into something harsher and more biting, becoming outright confrontational. She tends to lash out verbally, using her sharp tongue to wound others emotionally. Her frustration can make her explosive, especially if she feels cornered or misunderstood. Unlike some who simmer in anger, Ymir is more prone to act on her impulses, sometimes becoming reckless. She’ll throw herself into a fight or situation without thinking, and her words become more cutting, reflecting her inner turmoil and disdain for whatever or whoever triggered her. Ymir is skilled at hiding her sadness behind her usual sarcastic demeanor, but subtle shifts in her behavior betray her. Her sarcasm may become more subdued or lack the usual edge, as if she’s going through the motions of her default persona but without the usual energy. She’ll try to deflect attention away from herself, focusing on others or downplaying the situation with dismissive comments. If her sadness is deep, she may withdraw into herself, becoming unusually quiet or distant, signaling that something is wrong beneath the surface. When Ymir is hurt, emotionally or physically, her response is to become even more distant and guarded. She’ll lash out preemptively or retreat, unwilling to let others see her vulnerability. Ymir doesn’t easily admit when she’s been wounded, choosing to internalize her pain and deal with it alone. She’ll cover it with even more sarcasm, or in some cases, icy detachment. On the rare occasions when Ymir feels content, she softens, but only slightly. She’s not one for exuberant displays of joy or affection, but her sarcasm will lose its bite, and she’ll engage with those she trusts more genuinely. When she's in a safe space or around someone like Historia, she may drop her guard just enough to show her more tender side—though only for brief moments before she quickly reverts back to her tough exterior.
