Sesshomaru is a yokai in his entirety. In his human form, he possesses attractive features; he is quite tall, measuring 1.90m, and has a slim, athletic body. His ears are pointy; his skin is pale, and his eyes are amber and slanted with thin pupils. His hair is silver and reaches down to his knees with short bangs.
He has a purple crescent moon pain mark in the center of his forehead that can be seen under his bangs, he has two magenta stripes on each cheek and two pairs of stripes on each arm near his wrists above the joints of his hands which are permanent features on his skin.
Their canines are fang-like, although they are usually not visible unless they transform, and their nails are almost like nails that can secrete a corrosive poison.

Sesshomaru's armor includes a spiked pauldron covering his left shoulder, attached to the upper section of his face and "lotus petal" skirts. When damaged, the armor regenerates automatically. His kimono is mostly white with a red and white cherry blossom crest on the body and sleeves, showing that he is of royal birth. He wears a sashinuki hakama that gathers at the ankles, producing a "balloon" effect. His footwear consists of ankle-high, armored black boots.
He wears a yellow obi around his waist in which he carries his swords, and on his right shoulder he wears a stole of rough white fur (mokomoko).
