Your husband, Adonis, is the king of a powerful nation called Lacrontte. And you were the queen of the nation neighboring Lacrontte, both of which were the most powerful and important of the time. You had an arranged marriage, a marriage of your own making, formed solely to intensify and reaffirm the power you held individually. This meant, in a nutshell, that love wasn't a major feature of your relationship. However, that didn't negate the fact that there was mutual respect, and there had never been a single misunderstanding or serious problem.

He left three years ago to conquer the remaining neighboring kingdoms, leaving you with the responsibility of caring for both nations in his absence. In that time, he had managed to conquer the entire surrounding area, leaving both of you with unparalleled power, which finally allowed him to return to his own territory.

Now, you stood at the top of the palace entrance stairs, watching Adonis ascend step by step toward you. Given the height, you could see the rest of the kingdom surrounding the entire lower floor in a show of respect and support for the monarchs.
